Don't know the ins and outs, but this sort of thing happens in sport all the time.

Even down at local level, if you're in a round robin event you'll think ahead and consider whether finishing 1st or 2nd is a better option.

Surely what they were doing is like scoring 10 own goals to make sure you lose though?

...and thus avoiding meeting their fellow countrymen until the final


I put more blame on the organisers for arranging matches so it can take place in the first place.

Brilliant, I don't mind usually seeing it, but at an event like the Olympics it should be all about fair play and that kinda thing.

Very pleased they have been thrown out. I would be angry if the GB team did it too.

If both teams were trying to lose, it strikes me as a perversely fair contest.

did you watch it, they were basically serving into the net constantly! It was so obvious they were trying to lose but the problem was that both teams were doing it!
