Back to the dark days under Thorn. Robins came in and kicked a few arse's and changed things around but today was a step backwards.

In today's CT Carsley has said we have the best players in the league.

Have to say, I do not agree with him.

If we have then we have the most underperforming group of players in League One.

I was fine with Carsley until today, never said a word from the touchline, had that many bits of paper in his hand,he and oggy were doing origami.
No pointing and organising players

Get a manager in now. Any one who has managed a Championship will do. Vision today of Oggy with paper in hand pointing out the plan to a striker. Genius, you couldn't write it.

The thought of Oggy as assistant manager just makes me shudder.

I saw Oggy drop a pint in the open arms last year.

Were people talking about this 'holiday camp attitude' as Carsley oversaw two wins in two games? Is there actually any evidence of this bar a disappointing defeat, something which also happened when Robins was here?

Well said - my thoughts exactly re: Carsley. He lost a home game...some appear to be making Oggy the scapegoat. The thing is this season we've now lost at home under 4 different management teams. Are they ALL inept..? Or is something else impacting?

I really wish the players would keep quiet on things like this. Tweet as many pictures of your cat, slippers and Nando's as you like, but making comments on things like this does no-one any favours

Don't get me wrong Oggy's a legend and Carsley's a top bloke but we need a leader now before it's too late

Except you've just taken something that happened and added 'holiday camp' on the end. Is he supposed to scream blue murder about how much he hates the people in charge of the team?

I mean, Baker also praised Mark Robins, the man who made him captain. Holiday camp, yeah?

Carl Baker believes Mark Robins has had a positive impact at Coventry City..

...Baker said: “The confidence has really been lifted around the place as we are beginning to pick up points and we are also getting closer to where we feel we need to be.

“I think there was a confidence issue in the previous matches but since the gaffer has come in, people are walking around the training ground with smiles on their faces.

In defence of Carsley and Oggy-we have lost a manager and two backroom staff just a week ago. That limits what you can physically do on the training pitch (as manager) and as Oggy is the GK coach, leaves it down to pretty much just Carsley to do outfield training.

Okay I'll stand corrected there, but we all know we lost our fair share last season under his tenure...my point is there is something unsettling the team at home games.

I agree with him however they are now on their 4th manager this season.

It is not by chance were are not currently in the play offs

No it is because the players are not very good. No club in the top half of this league would take the likes of Edjuingele and Cameron. Elliot is nowhere near up to standard as a forward. Face it the squad is very, very average.

There are plenty of players in this league that would improve this squad, the only sky blue player that has looked head and shoulders above this league has been McGoldrick.

I take it you are of the opinion that Mark Robins was a messiah and was massively over achieving with this squad.

Personally I think he is just a good manager who was getting them to do what they should be doing.

What losing at home to Shrewsbury Notts County Scunthorpe etc. Without McGoldrick and now Clark where would we be do you think?

No I think he was a good manager who dropped on lucky to have a player who was head and shoulders above anyone else in the league, who didn't experience an injury crisis to the squad or had players who hit poor form.

Our great squad today was shown up for what it is - lacking in options and lacking in depth in key areas - Crewe had more quality on the bench than we had.

He was a good organised manager who improved the squad and had a premium goalscorer.

Whether you accept it or not all the summer signings have been a waste of resource with the possible exception of Jennings who is at least competitive at this level. I hope all the rest that are still here will be gone by next season. Also we have high earners like Wood and Bell who need to go. Even Baker is 31 now and will probably be of use only for one more season.

Fans are deluded. Many (including you) lauded Hussey as a quality player good enough for the Championship. He is playing at the basement of League Two.

We will end up mid-table. We have a very average squad that needs ripping up and starting again.

That word deluded again
Whilst DMC was in our squad we averaged 1.52 points
Since he left 1.50 points.

Chopping and changing managers does make have an impact

Psgm1 will love this thread

It's interesting reading this thread an people's extreme opinions from one end of the spectrum to the other

On one hand we have those who believe 60% of league 1 squads are better than our own, even when we don't lose we're lucky because Murphy made a couple of world class saves

And the other argument that we have the best squad in the league and should be walking the title.

Don't entirely agree with that, we have a top 6 side easily, we have a good midfield, subs included, but as you say, Baker is getting old, and Sheff is past it (I added that) so that needs strengthening for next season (whatever league we're in), we also need 1-2 CBs for next season, and a striker, especially if we play 4-4-2, we only have 1 good striker to pick (and no, that's not Elliott!) we have 1 of the best GKs in the league, one of the best strikers, we're strong in areas, but are short in areas as well, in the summer we need to balance it out. Thorn went a little too top heavy with the midfield, and could've used his resources better.

Need to remember this is largely the same squad that were near bottom 5 months ago.
If they were so bad grendel how come we are now 8th? How come we have scored almost more than any other team? How come we have won so many on the road? It's the same squad. The difference has been a manager.

We need one quickly.

Oggy is using those bits of paper to show people who they're marking at set pieces. He has had that job for years and does it at every match!
