How is this anything like what Wasps are doing? For a start nobody expects to pay full list price for a new car. And thats before you consider the discount levels. You're comparing a 20% discount on a new car (which in reality will be a lower % as I would imagine it is discounted from list price) to a 90% discount being offered by Wasps - or 45% discount for 2 games if you prefer to look at it that way.

I'm not comparing it to anything let alone anything Wasps have done. Someone has made a sweeping statement that top brands don't discount. I've called bullshit on that, nothing else. You seem to agree with me on that given you've given details. From memory I think you're correct, now you mention it I'm pretty sure my mate did get a 20% discount of jaguar, pretty sure he got the same of the discovery he had before that to so it must be a standard discount from JLR for public sector workers. You'd have thought that the poster who delivered the sweeping statement would have been aware of that given his supposed position with JLR? Maybe that's BS to?

Another point, if giving away free tickets gets people hooked and going back and paying. Why are their attendances falling a year on even with freebies?

Any evidence to back that up? All I can see is the offers being repeated over and over again and things being done to entice people to the ground (free beer, subsidised trains, firework displays, live bands etc). No business is throwing money away on continued offers and 'added value' if their marketing strategy has worked and people are prepared to pay full price.

Yes me. First season I managed to get free tickets a couple of times but it was all promises from people 'in the know' , rota systems and scrounging off my daughter rugby club if they didn't want them, which they always were.

No, I want to go every time and can't be arsed scratting around.

Same reason as us in our first season at the Ricoh.

You could look at it another way.
Attendances are up on Wycombe so it's working.

Were CCFC giving out thousands of free tickets?

If handing out loads of tickets is to get them hooked and keep coming back, where are they all?

I know people who only bother going to CCFC games when they can get a free ticket or it is a fiver, they wouldn't pay the full price. A couple of them have been to watch Wasps, because it was free but wouldn't pay.

Please show me where I said top brands do not discount.

Did your "friend" make the purchase through a manufacturer or dealer based scheme?

Look. You clearly copy and pasted something from the internet, added your own improvised generalisation on to it and most likely missed the point of what you copied and pasted in the first place and with what you added made it complete bullshit for which you've been called out on. Man up and deal with it instead of continuing with your charade.

Sorry? I've stated that communication strategy from premium brands focuses on brand strength and core values as well as cost of ownership.

It's nothing to do with discount at retailer level at all. It's to do with image and communication. I asked Ranstone for examples of outward communications of brands that are considered premium in their segments that indulge in these tactics.

I hardly needed to google off the internet - it's clear you do not understand the principals I am stating even though I thought my original communication was very straightforward.

Look at a company like John Lewis when they advertise. They will primarily focus on brand strength and image. Building an identity of excellence and quality. They are not price led in their advertising. Compare those to say Primark or Matalan - take a look? What do you see? What is the difference between the styles in your opinion?

Crucially which advert is the most similar to that we have seen from Wasps?

Think of a product that is premium - say BMW - and what is your first thought? Is it cheap deals? I do not think so. They do not lead on price - they will lead on cost of ownership messages and of course will look to be competitive but not a cheap offer - a value offer can be a core brand value - but not cheap.

The issue here is that the retail price offering is being devalued to a huge extent the consumer associates that value as the market value. Again this isn't the discount per Se that creates this but the communication strategy.

When companies indulge in distressful VM messages such as this it ultimately only leads to the strategy becoming the norm. There are numerous examples which I can show you of you wish.

They will come back if they want. Otherwise give them out to someone else.

It takes all sorts. I know someone at the pub who only goes to CCFC when he gets a free/cheap ticket and then goes to the casino after and bumps into a few old players and talks in the pub as if he is CCFC's number 1 fan including a bit of name dropping. When I said I went to Barnsley he said I must be mad. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR

So the point is, why are attendances falling then if everybody is going back or getting a season ticket?

I never said everybody is going back or getting a season ticket. I said some !!

I repeat !!

If you get people in the stadium (cheap) and watching 'some' will want to be more than occasional attendees.
Last season had larger attendances because it was a the first time in a new stadium for Wasps and other supporters.
This season is more realistic but they still need to build a local support base hence the various initiatives.

Are you on a bonus for posts so are asking the same question several times.?

Nick,

I appreciate you control this board and 'own' it, which is fine and I fully respect that but I don't need to justify myself to you or anyone else.

If you don't want me posting here or if the content of my posts offends you or anyone else then please feel free to block my account, I really wont lose any sleep over it.

What I have done in the last 24 hours is highlight someone spouting nonsense and I've called them out on it as have others. That said I have done it respectfully and civilly. I really cant see what the problem is ? It seems that anytime I disagree with someone albeit it civilly you want to out me as a Wasps supporter !

I would ask that perhaps you either accept that I'm not a Wasps supporter and let it go or block my account if you feel that necessary.

Thanks

The rules state only 1 account is allowed, are you 100% you have never had another account?

If you came on and said you were a Wasps fan rather than not being a Wasps fan, but somebody with a "local interest" in it then I am sure it would be more believable and respectable.

People like italia at least just have the one account, support ccfc and don't try and bullshit their reasoning for posturing on here. Doesn't matter what his views are. I don't like the fact you seem to think people are stupid...

Experience from forums will now say you will try and make out that you would be blocked because I didn't agree with you, rather than the fact you aren't a city fan and have come on here with an agenda and a high chance of another account.

No, I can't afford any bonuses after having to pay out for Italia bingo every time you are hypocritical.

Of course a few people may carry on going, but I'd say the majority won't bother until it is free or cheap again. The fact that literally thousands of freebies were thrown about last season and probably this season and no steady increase in attendances where people have caught the bug shows that too doesn't it? Would you not expect to see a steady increase this season alone?

How do their attendances compare to other teams who don't give them out?

So you are just a random ordinary member of the public who has signed up to a CCFC forum to talk about Wasps? Not a fan of either team...

I wouldn't ban somebody for having a different view (the place would be dead), I just want to know about agendas.

With respect we've been all through this before ..... I'm not a random member of the public .... I'm based locally when not abroad and have an interest in whats happening at the Ricoh and locally ...... I fully accept and understand that its a CCFC forum but you have threads discussing the many issues associated with Wasps moving to the Ricoh ..... the issues are quite furiously debated on here so whats the harm in contributing with what I would consider to be a balanced view neither in one camp or the other ? Just because I dont side and agree with certain CCFC supporters doesn't automatically put me in the Wasps camp.

I don't have a hidden agenda either

Is a bit odd. Think you're the only one on here that is not a fan of either team or even an opposing team like Leicester. Have a local interest but spend time abroad? Not saying you're not genuine or that you don't add a reasonable perspective. Can understand the suspicions though.

It's extremely odd behaviour for someone with just a passing interest to post so vigorously on a subject they don't particular care about. I suspect he's a wasps fan or works for wasps/acl's Comms team
