Haha it's a joke, isn't it? I wonder what italia and toni thought of those locals in Northampton going to watch ccfc play? I'm sure that if they could walk to Sixfields it was fair enough?

Also, where had this notion of us not being able to afford to run the Ricoh come from?

Italia made a few comments. One that sticks out is that how he would be way too ashamed to admit going to watch CCFC if he was a local there.

I would have thought there were plenty more high profile events on there in the past?

"One of the most high-profile sporting events in the Ricoh Arena’s ten-year history will take place this weekend as European champions Toulon take visit Wasps."

Are they taking the piss? If you go out and ask the public what is more high profile do you think Wasps v Toulon would rank up there with the Olympics, pretty much any of the big concerts or us playing the likes of Chelsea?

Isn't this the game that last year they said would be a sell out and like us playing Real Madrid in the Champions League?

I'd say Gillingham, Chelsea or even Crewe would have been much bigger. We could have sold 35 - 40k I think for those games.

If we Carry in as we are, the Most high profile game could be the one that clinches promotion to the championship. That would put Toulon in perspective.

Looks like they're back to pushing out free / cheap tickets

If you purchase tickets for Wasps v Toulon on 22nd November 2015 you can purchase the same number of tickets for the Wasps v Bath on 13th December 2015 for £1 per person.

It will be interesting to see which match has the largest crowd, but unfortunately I think it will be the Rugby, last year Leicester got 22K for Tulon.

I estimate CCFC vs Gills - 16K, Wasps vs Tulon 18K

Note 16K is 4K up on budgeted crowd.. and the current average is 11,870, so be positive.

They'll get about 22k I'd imagine.

The wasps PR makes me laugh. The Ricoh hosted the semi finals a few years back, surely that is a bigger game than this weekends fixtures, before you even consider any of our games.

It is blatent PR too, unless the CET thought "I know, we really need to ask a woman at the Ricoh how she is going to cope".

Didn't Take That perform consecutive sell out concerts there? Surely bigger? Turn the pitch around? Have we got that sliding pitch after all? The drama of taking one set of posts down and putting another up. Then spraying over current lines and re-painting some more. Hardly the task of the century! What is in it for the CET to push Wasps like they do? Can't remember this level of support when they were in London? Another thing that annoyed me was Monday's Telegraph if anyone got it. When you opened the back page their match review was before ours and Coventry RFC. Absolute shambles the CET is. To think they got an award for the Bring City home campaign. Should be taken back!

They will be spending a lot more on advertising so the Telegraph do what they are told to do and kiss their Arse, I would have said the under 21's game a few years ago was a bigger event the one that sold out not this recent one.

Nah that was Leinster, a user on here (wasps fan) said it was the equivalent to us playing Real Madrid and would be a sell out, they got about 20k and that was with tons of free tickets going around at that time as well

Ha ha ha. You lot are funny. It says one of the highest profile sporting events, not the and not events full stop.

At the end of the day Toulon probably are the biggest club in European club Rugby and this is the biggest competition in European club so its high profile. Probably even more so in France.

What a pointless thing to be getting your knickers in a twist about. Too funny.

I know. The thread was dead before Nick resurrected it. I wouldn't go as far as to call him the Wasps PR machine though. You're being unkind there. In fact I think you owe Nick an apology or a retraction.

Has there not been bigger Rugby games there? I'd say their first game there was higher profile, as well as the Semi Final that was on.

In terms of sport, Olympics and some of our games.

I thought I would post something for you to post on when theres a game on to keep you interested.

Turner rejoins the club, Bigi rejoins the club. Armstrong and Kent return from international duty. Oh and the small fact we've got a massive table topping clash this weekend, but I haven't seen hide nor hair from Skybluetony until a Wasps thread is ressurected. Que surprise.

Wow, I had no idea this thread was still going.

Being “anti-franchise” is principled, but surely when fighting any battle you have to take reality into account? If Wasps represented a specific place, and/or their move had met with anything like a proper protest from their supporters, I’d have been dead against them coming to Coventry. But in the absence of those things, I simply can’t work up any moral outrage. Mostly I just see economic benefits to the city, and lots of people enjoying rugby matches. Oh, and a football club that (as Mr Anderson says) is “in a bind”. That hurts, but I really can’t blame Wasps or the City Council for it.

For what it’s worth, I think the Butts might be a game-changer. That remains to be seen.

That's probably why it says ONE of the biggest not THE biggest.

Like I said. Getting your knickers in a twist over nothing.

Funny though. People not being able to read that is.

Probably because you only read the Wasps threads. It's the only logical explanation.

So by definition it will attract natural demand at full retail price to generate ONE of the biggest attendances ever seen at the stadium?

So how far up the list does it need to be to become one of them?

Knickers aren't in a twist, just pointing it out. You are the one on the defensive.

Probably not. But then it's talking about the event itself not the audience. It's one of Rugby's biggest clubs if not the biggest playing in European rugby's premier competition. It doesn't matter how you want it to look they are the facts. As an event it is therefore ONE of the highest profile sporting event that has been put on at the Ricoh. Not THE biggest but ONE.

Can't be that big if it doesn't get more then a jpt game?

The fact is judged by attendance isn't it? You could say your birthday party is a huge event, not if nobody goes it's not

You're confusing attendances with occasion. For example if in our final home game of this season a draw will gain us automatic promotion and we play it in front of 15000 we get the point and get promoted does that mean that the JPT game against Crewe was a bigger occasion because the crowd was bigger?

I don't think so and I doubt you'll find many if any who will.

In which case there's the tennis and snooker which go above it, their first game here, Gillingham, Chelsea, crewe. The semi finals for rugby. The Olympics. Probably their game against Leicester.

I doubt it's even top 5 is it?
