British Airways flights delayed and phone lines down in 'IT system failure'

IT systems have reportedly failed with planes unable to take off, phone lines down and pilots left in the dark.

I wonder if this is another one down to WFH?

Last one wasn’t really down to WFH it was down to procedures not being up to date

tbh given how often this is happening now I tend to think it’s down to something else which for obvious reasons they don’t want to make public. Same as banks never tell you when they’ve lost a fuckton of money

BA infamously have a very bad IT network. They outsourced all their shit to India and not only do their flights get regularly scuppered by outages, their website & App go down all the time as well. You frequently can't even book a flight on there.

A symbol of a declining airline, and country to be honest. Can't get the basics right.

I’d rather fly with RyanAir or EasyJet than them for a short haul flight. The whole experience is just shit.

Isn’t BA owned by American Airlines now?

We might be talking about different incidents. The one I'm talking about nobody thought to call the company who actually made / support the system and when they were finally informed they fixed it within minutes.

They codeshare with American Airlines, but they're owned by IAG who also own Iberia and Aer Lingus. Part of that group are also Vueling, who get a special mention as one of the shittest airlines I have ever been on.

Tried to travel on them once and they kept cancelling the flight several days in a row. Pulled in about a grand in compensation. Got to the point where I was rebooking the flight like putting on an accumulator and it was just paying out.

Agree with you. The UK has for so many years decided to follow an approach of maximising profit through cost savings and outsourcing and it's all coming back to bite.
