Good isn't it these days really ?

Let's be honest so far this season vocally it's been very impressive , Yes we do lack numbers of some bigger clubs however some very nice comments about us all over social media and on away day sites on Facebook too .

Would you say that as of today the away support is the best it's ever been at the club .

It's currently the best I can remember but it's been building for a few years now.

We've one of the better away followings outside the top flight surely now when you balance numbers with vocals

There are clubs with bigger numbers , but that doesn't mean better

Not many in this league will average higher away followings than us.

Our away support improved the moment we were relegated to League 1.

New grounds, cheaper tickets and we were winning more games. Then the move to Northampton increased that even more.

People got into the habit of going away. Loved the day out on the beer and have continued to do so. I certainly know lads who go to most away games and hardly any home games.

You can find our away followings on Wikipedia for our final few years in Championship. Some of them were pathetic. 960 on a Saturday to Derby. 780 to Barnsley. 250 to Middlesbrough etc. Something that seems ridiculous with our away support now.

Birmingham, Forest, Sheff UTD, West Brom, Bristol City and Middlesbrough have travelled really well so far. There will be quite a few others like Stoke with similar to our numbers.

The biggest difference (comes with winning) is the backing and support when we go behind.

Can't see Bristol City and Middlesbrough selling out many allocations. Especially midweek games pure logistics.

Is it the ticket office or ticket master? My experience is it’s ticket master. My season ticket still hasn’t arrived despite ticket master saying they have sent it twice. Last week the site wouldn’t let me buy 2 tickets for QPR I had to go to the office and they sorted it immediately.

It's still the club's choice to use Ticketmaster though!!

In regards of average away support, I presume a lot of our rivals mentioned will take up the full allocation to QPR that we didn't, and if that continues at further away games as the season progresses they will have a built in advantage at recording higher away numbers than us.

Also, does anyone know how away numbers are recorded at Fulham? They obviously have an away section, but next to it is a neutral zone, which can have varying levels of away fans, but on occasion is full of them.

Its not always about numbers - I’ve been in the away end when we only took 600 fans and the atmosphere has been better than with 3 - 4 thousand.

Agree with a post above, for me the difference over recent years (as well as the numbers) is that the supporters don’t get on the players backs when behind.

The cast majority of clubs use ticket master it also could be we are contracted to use them over a certain period of time. I thought they had already said that the couldn’t take the full allocation as QPR could not get them to the club before Thursday last week. As I understand it we as a club then are liable to make up the difference if we do not sell additional tickets requested.

Agree. In terms of numbers you can't knock Sunderland, but for getting behind the team they're dreadful.

Did any of our lot compliment you on your vocal support at our place ? . I never heard a peep from you, but I never do from any away fans. Then I get home and watch the highlights and it sounds like you’ve brought 6000. Very weird, I don’t know if it’s where you’re sat or where I’m sat but I never hear anything apart from chances and goal celebrations unless the end is pretty much sold out.

Honestly mate I used to park in the away end car park because it’s a piece of piss to get away from, and many a time I’d think fucking hell these are loud should be a cracking atmosphere, they’d get in the ground and it’s like someone’s put them on mute.

The ticket office I think we're brilliant. I spoke and emailed a lady called Lorraine on friday told her my tickets havnt arrived. She ordered duplicates. And picked them up at the ticket collections at QPR.

But what shocked me was the amount of duplicate tickets and there was quite a few Cov fans in queue. Wasn't a isolated case.

I've often read this point about clubs being liable for costs if not selling additional tickets, but is this actually true? Doesn't seem to make a lot of sense given that the home team take the money from ticket sales anyway, so say for instance we had only sold 500 extra QPR tickets and not the full 800+, at £30 a ticket QPR will have done themselves out of £15k in ticket sales by adopting that approach. Of course on the flip side when we play at home to QPR we will want them to sell tickets to their fans, and will want them to sell as many as possible, so it makes sense from both club's perspectives to not restrict sales by imposing liability costs for unsold tickets.

I suspect what actually happened with QPR is that we ourselves didn't request the full allocation possibly due to Ticketmaster issues (is this happening with other clubs who use Ticketmaster?) combined with our own stretched staffing levels. The obvious answer to this and lesson learnt would be to put away tickets on sale much earlier, so there is time to get extra tickets sold if required. Not quite sure why we didn't request the full QPR allocation from the off anyway as to me it was clear we would sell those tickets for this game. Millwall is next away game so is a more difficult one to call in regard to the support we can expect there. A lot of people feel uneasy about travelling there, but if we do well in our next 2 home games we could take a large following regardless if allowed.

I do hope that the club addresses these issues sooner rather than later, because if we carry on with this good start particularly, and demand remains high for tickets, this situation is likely to re occur, and we really should be encouraging as much support as possible both home and away to ride the wave of the feelgood factor we have at present.

edit - Just seen Londonccfcfan's post which makes it look like our backroom staff are having to pick up the slack from Ticketmaster failures. Given the scale of Ticketmaster's operations I am pretty shocked at their apparent ineptitude, and I hope the club have some kind of penalty clause set, if they fail to provide the service expected of them.

Fulham away capacity is apparently 3,000, but there is a 'neutral' section of 3,000 next to it, so a possibility of up to 6,000.

I remember going to Wimbledon at Selhurst Park where they had a similar 'neutral' zone which we swamped, when we took over 8,000 there and Ndlovu starred for us.
