Coventry City fans to get away tickets based on points system

The Sky Blues sold out their reduced allocation for Good Friday's match at Birmingham City in less than two hours of going on sale
www.coventrytelegraph.net

Confirmed by Boddy. Predictable and what most want.

It takes into account your purchase history from the past two seasons and the current one.

Will be interesting to see how it pans out. It's a shame this wasn't announced earlier in the season because we may have taken more to Middlesbrough/Barnsley/Swansea/Huddersfield/Millwall games which didn't sell out.

All good.

Rewards the fans who are there 99% of the time for away games.

Still needs to be 1 ticket per supporter.

Although with Fulham & Bournemouth looking good for promotion, it is unlikely that there will be many dog fights for tickets.

It makes sense to me, it is only fair that people who go to many away games get the first option.

Good idea I’ve only been to 4 away games this season someone who goes to most games does not deserve to miss out because of me

The only fair system to use more so now as back to no level 1 membership, the fans that go away gets the points.
A word on away fans who prove to be anti social should be banned as bring the the club into disrepute.

Yes Watford and Norwich not novelty grounds and cater for a couple of thousand I think. Everton will be a big one if they come down

Which away game this season has there been trouble? Besides the odd idiot around, I can think of any widespread problems.

Certainly better behaved than at home.

Not going to be popular but;
thing its wrong to give rewards to fans that prioritise away games.
The club needs season ticket holders more than those travelling away.

I agree sort of. ST holder+regular away games should be the strongest hand.

Like a ST gives you a head start with points.

Personally I didn’t see a problem with this season. Other than we should all be season ticket holders treated as one. None of this phase 1 and phase 2 crap.

Its just as simple as first come first serve. Didn’t see a problem personally

I agree.

Day 1. ST holders + away points (might need to be on a sliding scale)
Day 2. ST holders
Day 3. Non ST holders with away points
Day 4. General sale

Something like that.

ST holders bring revenue into the club and need to be up the pecking order.

That could work. There would be fewer in each category also so people in lower categories would still have a fair chance of getting a ticket

I agree.

I was always fine with them bringing in a system which benefitted those that go to more games, but that should include all fixtures. As you say, if anything it should slightly favour those going to many home games and season ticket holders because that provides the club with revenue.

Thats what it'll be.

It'll be points grouping for ST holders. Even if you haven't been to any away games, you'll get priority over non ST holders.

I hope they count the under 25/21 tickets that I've bought!

Its what separates a ST Holder with 1 Away from a ST Holder with 50 Aways. (I know that's what you mean by sliding scale)

It will have to more a numerical approach, more along the lines of;

1 point for a home game, 1.5 points for an away, extra points mid week etc. Maybe even go as far as to give higher points for distance or importance?

Then
Day 1 is 100+ points
Day 2 75+ points

etc. etc.

It will be a bollocks at the start I think but should eventually work out.

Im sure that the people with the points will he season ticket holders anyhow. Quite A lot of away games sell out before general sale.

Think some people are having a panic about this.

Next season we'll lose Fulham and Bournemouth, two of the most appealing and smallest allocations.

We may then lose Luton, the smallest, or Middlesbrough which didn't come close to selling out.

We'll lose Peterborough and Barnsley, which we didn't sell out.

We will then gain Burnley (they'll give 3000 in the Championship), Wigan (4000+) and possibly Rotherham (Done many times in recent years and 2500) and MK Dons (8k).

This is before you factor in the loss of appeal next season for new grounds as they've been done. The novelty first season post-covid and back in the Championship and possibly a season where we don't do as well as this year. There will likely be more mid-week away trips, too, because of the World Cup. Are we really going to be taking 1500 away to the likes of Bristol City and Cardiff next season if we are sat in midtable?

There is every chance that next season the points system will not actually be needed outside of a couple of games.

If you want to go to matches, you'll be able to. If you're worried, you may want to consider going to the likes of Barnsley/Middlesbrough/Hull that won't sell out to get your points up.

Was chatting to a lad in the casino who said he could see his 'purchase history' (season ticket excepted) when he logged into his CCFC account.

Anybody know where to look?

I'm flummoxed.

Log onto to your e-ticket account. Go to your account. View account menu then go to account history. Mine goes back to 2016.

Cheers SAJ, I assumed I'd find the details at CCFC, not Ticketmaster.

Happy now, thanks for your swift response.

I think the club has to give priority to S/T holders level 1 and away supporters level 2 available to supporters who join sky blue membership. Both levels gain points dependent on oppennent.I would make it 1ticket per applicant.
