List doesn't look too impressive to me. Grayson would have been a good choice and Ince is now with his son.

Only 2 names that stick out for me are Nigel Adkins and Owen Coyle but who knows if they are willing to manage in division 3 and can we afford them.

Pemberton just seems odd as the favourite.

Maybe Carsley till the end of the season is the best option for now.

Division 3 is only for a few games and they get the added bonus of an extra promotion on their cv

It didn't work with Shaw or Thorn, but sometimes the cheap option may just be the right one - particularly for the continuity, the budget and the position the club is in. No guarantees of course, but tbh if it could work for anyone then I would quite like it to be Carsley.

* especially with the list of rum bunch of alternatives out there many of whom are equally untested, more expensive, no affiliation to the club and come with the same no guarantee option.

This is the first time in years that I'm not bothered who takes charge. That aside if I were to choose i would try and appoint Akins or a untried manager whats the worst that can happen

I know this doesn't quite sound logical but its a risk keeping carsley on till the end of the season. Aside from the fact he doesn't feel that he's ready - his own words - if he does well then what. We end up in a Thorn situation again where we feel obliged to give it to him.

I know that sounds weird, cause if he gets us up then we'd want him to stay wouldn't we? Its just too similar to Thorn and we all know how that one ended up.

I think Robins just showed what a bit of experience can do in this league.

I can see your point, but just because it didn't work for Thorn is not a reason that it won't work for Carsley.

Think Carsley should manage til end of season. A.because the players are still the same ,Robins was working with and B.Give ACL/SISU the chance to sort out this mess we are in.It,s not likely we can get relegated so pressures off there and probably not much chance of promotion either,so lets build from here with out any more Bounty hunter managers!! I know what you're saying, but I think Carsley is a far cry from Thorn. Generally seems more professional. That doesn't mean he'll make a good manager, but if he didn't I think it would be for different reason from Thorn.

Whilst I think we should be actively looking we must keep one eye on LC if he is doing well. We need to keep this form up for the sake of the finances of this club and we all know only too well that we can only suffer a small number of losses before top 6 is no longer an option. I am not sure changing at the moment is the right thing to do but will reserve judgement until LC has a few more games under his belt. Either our team is good enough or not. Now is the time for the players to man up / stand up and be counted one and all.

I have reservations about keeping Carsley.
1, Robins took with him two decent coaches to Huddersfield. What will we do about this? Allow Carsley to bring in staff until the end of the season? Employ replacements on a long term basis and risk a new manager wanting to bring their staff with them? Just wing it with what we have?
2, What would happen to Carsley if he stayed until the end of the season? If we chose not to retain him as manager would he then step back down or would he leave?

Carsley has said he doesn't want to be in management yet so why would he be manager for the rest of the season?

He said in an interview "It's short-term. Literally, only I'm worried about the Bury game on Saturday.

Like someone else posted for once I am not actually bothered about who takes over. It'll probably end in disappointment regardless. They do crap, they get the sack. They do well, and get poached by other clubs.

On the sky blue player Steve Waggott said out of the 50 applicants there are around half a dozen who he believes could do the job.

If Dennis Wise has applied then he would be my fave, as I don't think Adkins or Coyle have applied.

Di Matteo, Adkins or Coyle would be my first choice but far too unrealistic.

Wouldnt mind if we tried to poach Abbott from Carlisle. Bit more realistic than the ones mentioned above.

Although i do fear it will be Brown!

Btw, what are those odds for Carsley? 100/30! Never seen odds like it

Just looking on skybet - Pemberton's odds have lengthened and although he's still the favourite, I can't see that lasting. I think Brown's odds have shortened, but only by a bit and Carsley's have lengthened as well. The big mover is Di Canio. Doesn't really surprise me, just quit his job and we're looking for a manager. People will put 2 and 2 together and get 5. The big surprise for me is Adkins. Was drifting a bit, out at 50's yesterday I think. I look today and he's come right in at 20/1. Still not short odds, but I would've just expected him to keep on getting longer odds.

Robins never had short odds and was a surprise appointment.

If SISU pulled Atkins off it would be a master stroke

He's really the only one I like out the ones being bet on (not even saying all of them are candidates)! I'm under no illusion that we'll get him but if he did just imagine the lift it would give everyone. And then just imagine the mood if Brown gets appointed... In fact don't, it's enough to make people raid the medicine cabinet

Di Mateo never thought about him. Though surprised he has not got a really good gig by now.
Adkins I can't be sure he would want to do it all again surely? Irony if he went and did it for us now. Saints were the team SISU turned down originally remember!
Di Caneo. Hmm a loose cannon. Think he has done reasonably well but escaping maybe when it looks too tough?

Wise...is he any good without his old wingman now at Brighton?

There's a lot of cannon fodder ot there that we don't have the time for. They should have got Grayson immediately for me.

Oh well something to keep us amused and I'm beginning to appreciate why CCFC forumns are so popular. There's never a dull moment is there?
