You are right to an extent but there are a couple of variables that could still affect the gate. It is conceivable that every 'available' ticket is sold and yet the attendance will still not be 30,000, while it is also unclear how many of the free ticket holders will actually show up.

We should have another game before the end of the season that’s £15-20 to see what that would actually do to attendance.

To an extent, but if they did this ticket deal next home match, it would drop by half.

The people of Coventry love a one off big occasion.

Depends if they are entertained today
Good game and win by a couple then could be repeated next game.

An issue on a day like this is that the cut backs the club have made in running costs mean we can't maximise revenue from having a club shop or merchandising outlet at the ground, that would otherwise make up for the lost revenue from reduced ticket prices. Another unknown is how many will be encouraged to come back and support the club in future, whether it be our next home game or whenever. The value to the club in doing this deal isn't a simple mathematic one of working out ticket revenue for this game at the reduced prices against what they might normally get at the regular prices.

There's merchandising outlets at the ground every game and today they have extra outlets in the exhibition hall.

Fair enough. I thought the old club shop was just Wasps stuff. Where is it?

Sorry - just seen Chiefdave's post about the exhibition centre.

Also if the club are maximising this other revenue source then i would expect they will be making much more money from this game at these cheaper prices than they have done at our other home games at full prices.

Why have we been told for years by the safety committee we can’t have home fans behind both goals when we have today?

Think they just make it up as they go along.

Looking very empty behind the 2 goals. Looks like many haven't bothered.

Empty behind both goals. Atmosphere worse than most usual home games.

Yes they must have done. It's a shame the take up on the freebies wasn't as good as expected, even given the poor performance they missed.

It was about 22,000. Tesco stand, where the paying fans sat, was full. Both stands behind the goal were half full at best.

It felt like the early days at the Ricoh today when it felt very empty despite a big number there. It felt far busier, and far more atmospheric against Stoke.

It's hard to tell how many were in the main stand and decided to stay inside. Also I couldn't see how full the east stand was as I was sat in it. On reflection 22k is probably about right.

Tesco stand was not full, blocks 23 to 25 were like behind the goals

28343 to be exact.
I could live with that fact but it was embarrassing to be announced as a record.

22000 max. Why if you have free tickets did people not turn up? Give them away if that’s the case.

Why it was a record anything over 19k was a record for the league, I thought there was around 23k there but it does seem to be a stadium where it is hard to get the attendance right just look at your lot they tell a few little stories in their gates
