if blackpool lose on sat and we win,AND its a sunny day we will hit 14k!

we are 3rd highest in league 1 - a long way behind sheff united and bradford
we are also higher than 3 teams in the championship and 1 in the premier league (bournemouth) - although portsmouth in league 2 have a higher average than us

if we did go up we would need to get crowds of 16000 to compete with others in the championship or 20000+ to be at the top end

think its fair to assume that we would see at least 2-3k more consistently added to attendence for championship games

I really think some will come back this season if we build on our home results with a couple of away wins. People must beginning to realise the football is better than for a while and that in all home games a lot more goals could have been scored. Against Chesterfield and Shrewsbury we could have easily scored 5 or 6 and v Southend either side could have scored a couple more.
If we are still in top 6 come Christmas I think we will see a steady increase in fans

It's an odd one as we have the fan base but it's never really been consistent. It would be great it we can continue the great start to the season and average around 15,000 fans but ultimately it all comes down to getting the buzz back around the club and people passionate about supporting Cov again. I for one lost a level of interest over the past couple of seasons but what a difference a few wins and management structure can make.

Still early days, but if the form continues through the season the gates will start climbing.

Here's a good analogy:

A shop used to be good 15 years ago. Many people would put the shop over their job. In the last 15 years, the shop has lost customers due to poor product and poor customer service.

People still have fond memories of what a good shop it was but have ultimately faded away year after year of the same old rubbish.

People hear the shop has now changed its ways and is beginning to steadily improve again. People still won't trust the shop because they remember 15 years of mismanagement of the highest order.

These people will gradually tell other past customers of the shop 'it's changed, believe me, the product is now worth it and the customer service has improved'. These people who are being told this will say 'yeah right, by December it'll be back to the same old again'.

Perhaps, come December, the shop will still be producing high standards and the previous customers will start flooding back and knowing it's going to be a whole lot different to the past 15 years.

Conclusion: it's going to be a slow, but ultimately rewarding process for SISU for running a football club properly at last. People, fans who have now distanced themselves away from the club, will just be dismissing it as just a good start at the moment and that we'll fade away back into a relegation battle like usual.

I think this is the first season since 2001 where there's been more reasons to attend CCFC games than to not attend.

The first possible 'big' gate could happen against Gillingham on the 21st November. That could very possibly be 1st/2nd/3rd v 1st/2nd/3rd.

What I meant by averaging a 1000 on top of the 11000 Waggott said he needed to keep our heads above water was just that the average. We have not been below 11000 yet. I do wonder if Mr Waggott regrets saying it publically as he did. I doubt we will ever be below 11k and ads said will SW allow a little extra dosh for the cause come January

It could be argued we already spent the extra bringing Kent in to cover Maddison.

If we go up we receive other income, TV for instant is over £4million more than we get currently and as we are apparently "cash positive" things can surely only get better especially with The brilliant use of the loan market by Mowbray and Venus.

So we are not cash positive then an extra 5000 is £100000 more than expected isn't it ?

That statement was made at a very specific time - just when season tickets were sold after the move back to the Ricoh, probably taking in the Wilson fee.

Ultimately we're not hugely over average now, so I wouldn't be banking on extra signings, especially as Kent is arguably the extra.

Its not that good, you have just substituted the word "shop" for CCFC.

Who would put a shop over their job ?

We will sell out Villa at home first game of next season.

based on average ticket prices issued at the weekend, 5000 is more like £50k net of VAT based on average ticket price (concessions etc) - albeit the additional 5000 would be at the marginal price, so maybe more like 60k

That said, I would expect kent to have been "cheap" with liverpool more interested in development than a few crumbs we could offer
