It’s not an excuse it’s a fact of life. The players got clapped off 0-2 down against Luton cos we could see the effort was there. They got nothing tonight cos it wasn’t.

People are spending a fortune and turning up to watch that shite week in week out, no wonder the atmosphere has gone. The atmosphere for the first 10 minutes was pretty good, gifted them a goal, then proceeded to pass the ball around the defence for the next half hour, we have no urgency, this is the most spineless team I've ever seen.

Probably the worst? Have a word, that isn't even close to being true and you know that.

If was very flat tonight, but in those few moments where there was some intensity and aggression it immediately lifted. That's the big contrast with the Luton game where the crowd stayed with them because they fed off the energy and that worked both ways. There was no spark tonight, we had one attempt on goal all first half. There was nothing to feed off, zero.

It's going that way really.

The ground is strange. When the noise gets going, it's deafening but when it's quiet it's eerily quiet. There's no real middle ground.

The atmosphere feels similar to that weird period in those few years after the stadium opened before Block 14/15 developed into what it was.

It's a shame because the noise at kick off is so good with WLADITT.

We may be playing poor, especially at home but my word our atmosphere has completely died.

To go from the noise and vocal support from a year or two to that tonight is demoralising.

Even after we scored, there was nothing. No drive to push the players. The Derby fans got bored of taking the piss after a while.

We've gained up to 10,000 fans in 18 months and the noise levels and fallen off a cliff.

Fans have spent shit loads of money turning up and watching bang average football players, performing shit and collecting 10 grand for their effort.

Fans are tired of coaches and manager getting the tactics wrong from the start and not having the initiative to switch it up as soon as possible.

Fans are tired at the bullshit we were fed from Doug King 'dreaming big and aiming high' take our money and deliver fucking nout..

Anyone else tired of Losing our best players Hamer, Gyok, O Hare and then Kasey Palmer, crying out for a top center mid, Centre back and a left back, instead we sign about 7 forwards??

When you see we have spent near 15 million on Mason Clarke, Kitching, Rudoni and Asante and you either watch them play shit or watch them earn 10 grand a week sitting on there arse cuz they're not even good enough to be selected. You can see why the fans are fucking fed up.

The recruitment, Coaching, performances and robins this season tactically have all been absolutely dreadful.

Fans are fucking tired mate, it's give and take and at the moment the fans are giving their hard earned money and players are taking it and giving absolutely fuck all back and that goes for Management, Coaching, Recruitment and Owner.

Day trippers with season tickets?

This idea that it's better with fewer there is nuts, the best 3 atmospheres last season were Sheffield Wednesday, Leicester and Leeds, the 3 biggest crowds of the season.

I noticed the home at atmosphere at Boro on Saturday was much more subdued than recent visits, very flat. Clubs lose momentum on and off the pitch at times. Nothing to stress about, it'll ebb and flow. Much bigger issues right now.

Leicester was good for obvious reasons but the other two were no better than the peak of that post-covid season. I still maintain we'll never ever get that back. It was some strange europhia of being freed from lockdowns, a sense of being up against it in the big leagues.

The Boro 'ultras' boycotted the game apparently. Supposedly the reason as to why it was quiet.
Make of that what you will...

We need some new songs. Drummer spends half the time he can be arsed trying to start either SBA, Since I was young and We love you. The latter two are utterly shite and tinpot and the former we sing far too much (effective when a lot are singing it but annoying when about 4 or 5 are constantly trying to get it going for 15 mins straight). Need some original, interesting songs we can sing. The songs for the players too, don’t get me started. Since gyok and hamer left every single one we’ve made has been shite. For instance the Bobby thomas crap one is just one of a number. Atmosphere was far better a couple of seasons ago but it would be helped now by a greater variety of decent songs to sing

In individual games maybe, but it seems they consistently need us to hold their hand.

A cup semi final is one thing.

But this was a league game against a fairly average side.

If our players need some sort of cauldron of noise in order to just get a draw at home against Derby then were getting relegated

Vik, Hamer, McFadz, O'Hare, Palmer - they all had songs you could get behind and bellow out. Now we sing about the biggest dick in the championship. We need a new creative director.

I'm not advocating going back to 10,000 as being some kind of dream team level support.
Somebody questioned the poor levels of vocal support and I've suggested that maybe those newcomers/returnees aren't ready yet to fill a breach
As for ST holders not being day trippers - You do know why our attendances for the 1987/88 season were reasonably high compared with the previous 10 and then steadily declined?

I wasn't having pop really, but I've heard it said before that the atmosphere dips when there is a large crowd, which isn't really true.

Besides, pretty much exactly the same people who were there tonight were there against Luton, and it was chalk and cheese. Tonight was very much an example of a game and how it unfolded impacting negatively on the mood, just a complete lack of energy on the pitch.

Of course numbers have been boosted and will likely dip over coming years if we don't kick on, but these aren't new fans from nowhere for the large part, they are just casuals turned st holders, it's the same people by and large who were there against Blues 2 seasons ago when there was 30K in the place and it was bouncing.

And we did that for a while. But normal service now resumed.

I didn't take your reply as having a pop.
You're right to question it.
I have been perplexed many times over for many a previous season when vocal performance hasn't matched the numbers.
But even I have to concede that was different level tonight on the pitch to find any motivation from the stands.

At what ground in this league would the fans, had their side put in that exact performance in the same circumstances, have roared their side on? Genuine question, I can't think of any. Leeds, perhaps. Where else? Sunderland, they sit on their hands when things are going well and would have all gone home after the 2nd goal. I know we like to see ourselves as exceptional in some way, but that was utterly depressing tonight and the subdued atmosphere a symptom of how the game panned out.

We seem to think we’re unique as a group of fans, and I’m not sure if it’s arrogance or self loathing.

As a fanbase we’re identical to 90% of all other clubs.

We had a great atmosphere a few years ago because we went from being the most depressing club in the land to support, to being a club that suddenly had everything going right.

We’re now putting in lacklustre performances, and the fans are justifiably annoyed by this.

Pretty much every other fan base would react the same way

bang on but people think we're special for some reason

rewind to pre MR and our atmosphere was nothing to shout about. No surprise that 6 seasons of continuous improvement generated a fantastic atmosphere. And it's no surprise that what looks like 2 seasons of regression is eroding that.

True. Home games never feel ‘big’ anymore like they did when there was 4.5k away fans right next to the corner. Shame as of course in other ways it’s far more beneficial to have as many home fans in as possible

Its the inane passing the ball around at the back thats pissing me off, we don't have players trying to make the transition with the ball, give it to Eccles and back it usually goes again, but at least the lad in the final 10 minutes or so was looking forward last night...so why didn't he do that all match? At throw ins most of our players run away from the thrower giving barely any options...this 'new' lot of 'trainers' or whatever we want to call the shite are doing us no favours at all because the tactics are run about and try to make yourself look busy but don't go anywhere you may be able to help the player on the ball and also pass to the opposition as many times as you can ...fucking garbage...( I am still fuming over that shite last night)

First time I’ve seen 27500 announced though and you look round and there are blue seats everywhere. Usually over 27k and the place looks full. Maybe family zone people playing their joker to get out of it.
