What I like about AT already is his refreshing outlook on the modern game and his relationship with fans players and media. He reminds me very much of John Sillet the main architect of our fabulous cup win in 1987. Despite their apparant laid back inclination both AT and JS appear to be ruthless in application but are willing to treat players as mature human beings. Respect is gained by this approach such that the best can be obtained from previous under achieving players ensuring success throughout the season campaign.

I am so glad that the club has taken the gamble to sign Thorn on a permanent basis, he doesn't pretend to be anything that he's not, he just does the bloody job without a fuss. Having a manager that can motivate the players and people around him is so incredibly undervalued. The tactics can be produced by anyone of the coaches, the manager's main job imo is to be the one that interacts with the players and acts as a rock and motivator for the team. Andy Thorn seems to be just that man.

Good call, rob - how about this one:

Picks a formation and tactics that suit the players' abilities - Regis hated the long ball game and wanted the ball to feet - Snoz implemented this in 1986, and Cyrille and the team flourished.

Likewise CCFC didn't have the pacy wingers needed to play AB's hoofball 4-4-2 - AT realises what the strengths of our midfielders are and picks a tight and fluid diamond formation.

Our full-backs are better going forward than defending so AT gives them the freedom to play almost as wingers when we're attacking, safe in the knowlege that they'll be covered by the CBs, the other FB,
and the DM at the base of the diamond.

Finally, just like JS, AT understands that most of us want to be entertained!!!
