How refreshing to see the attacking commitment of the team compared to the defensive stricture of the last managerial regime - mindless sideways and backward passing to a minimum and a real will to win mentality showing through.
Wave after wave of bodies (and ball) moving forward, through passes to feet from the middle, plenty of width (helped by the narrowing of the pitch somewhat), tigerish tackling, end to end excitement - what a game.
How is it that RS can in the space of one game can completely transform the playing style with the same players to that we witnessed last night.
What I have noticed in particular is that the skill factor appears to have improved, first touch, hold up play, passing, movement off the ball, awareness of others, shooting still a bit wayward but improving, fewer lapses in defence achieved by tenacious tackling.
I feel that this squad (thanks AT) consists of a rich blend of skill, experience, tenacity and commitment and is more than capable of a top six finish possibly led by RS (early days I know) on an extended trial that could lead us to the promised land.
