I'm not so sure we will have that much trouble finding the right players. It's pretty clear SW won't be playing FM anymore, TM I suspect is a manager players are attracted to, TM is well connected and we're starting the season back at the Ricoh rather than the will they won't they cloud we started last season under. We might not be big on numbers but I think we'll have quality not quantity.

I think you are right, but no one gets every transfer right and you still need luck with injuries especially with a small squad. I just hope our fans remain realistic and give him time to do the job.

How many big squads do you think there are in this division?

Aspirations are getting a little OTT on here, we need to see who we bring in first before we start making aspirations.

Single figure finish 9th or above
Reach FA Cup 3rd round
that would be a good starting point for me anything else JPT and League Cup would be bonuses but wouldn't sniff at the chance to see us play at Wembley in JPT

I would agree Hobo but for two reasons. The first is he took over a team that was going to get relegated before the last day of the season and turned things around. We ended up with top 10 form and finished in 17th. So are you honestly saying that you only think he will do the same as with a poor squad and players not his choice as when he has his own players? And the second is as I have said before. This is a shit division.

I think he is as capable as anyone of putting our club back on the right lines and making us competitive within a realistic budget.

But within any refurbishment there are hidden pitfalls; injury, people off form, owners not being straight, who you really want not available and perhaps most important what opponents pull out of the bag.

noboady is guaranteed success and we should be prepared for that, it doesn't make the boss a failure...progress is the key!

It is hardly a surprise that we are all getting a bit excited with the lack of success we have had to endure over the years.

We all know that we haven't had a top 6 finish in any league for 45 years, but almost as shocking (if not more so) is the stat that shows we have only had 4 top 10 finishes in the last 36 years, and 3 of those can in back to back years (plus the cup win) under Sillett.

Or looking at in yet another way, 1 top 10 finish in 26 years. If any club's supporters deserve a little bit of success it is us.

So what are they, mine is promotion nothing less and maybe that JPT cup aswell. Too high ? Well it wasn't for Bristol City and okay they had a bit of money thrown at them but once they got going they achieved both, so why can't we. The next five, MK Dons, Preston, Swindon, Chesterfield and Sheffield United are certainly within our grasp to emulate. TM will get the right players in of that i have no doubt and will get them to play on the front foot. Some on here are saying top 10 or mid-table, not me top two nothing less....and a cup-final.

A cup final would be nice, but for me it's all about top 2 or failing that top six next season.

Top 2 has to be the aim. The playoffs are a lottery I don't want to buy a ticket for unless we have to.

The reason i say a cup final and the JPT is the most likely of the lot for us is we need a springboard. Just as happened for us and Jimmy Hill all those years ago. JH steered us to the FA Cup quarter-finals in his first full season before loosing to eventual winners Manchester United, that lifed the club, the fans and propelled the then march to division 1 now the premiership, if it brings just 5000 back on a regular basis it would be worth it.

Need some players and an actual team before any of this happens.

I'd like us to avoid relegation, because its the only realistic option thus far....
