Take 2 minutes to think about the following -

Question 1 - Do I love my club and it is extremely painful to watch it being torn apart?

If Answer is Yes - Carry on - If no - come off this thread

Question 2 - Would I like to stand up for what I believe is right and try to disrupt my club playing in Northampton ?

Yes ? Carry on..

Question 3 - Did I join the masses in Coventry who protested in the summer but although a fabulous day, did not really get what I was looking for as was a non match day?

Yes ?? Carry on

Question 4 - Do I feel my club and all the happiness and pain it has gave me deserves better, all the history we have had together, from being in the west end at my beloved Highfield Road to a 1.0 victory at the Ricoh Arena and that feeling walking out after feeling satisfied and talking amongst friends.

Question 5- Do I feel my club structurally is a big club and we have a decent numbered fanbase, far more than what Sisu seem to think we have?

Question 6 - Would I like to partake on a Cov on the piss day in Northampton?

Yes ? well read on...

TIME FOR ACTION..

Protest In Northampton - NOT in the stadium.

* Bring Northampton to a standstill
* Stretch local resources
* Be Polite and legal
* 5,000 marching through Northampton would make the policing costs sky rocket
* Northamptonshire police would put pressure on the FL and Football Club
* Show we have not gave up and not died away
* Make a stance to all involved in this sorry mess.

If this was to happen.. we could come together as one.

Yes it's business people, but lets cause them more pain.

Just a suggestion.. the other.. sit back argue amongst ourselves, as Sisu WILL NOT return to the Ricoh even if 200 fans went it makes no difference to them, but making Northamptonshire think twice.. just might start to turn the screw.

Basically you're trying to organise a day on the piss in Northampton.

What impact will this have?

Is bringing a backwater town to a standstill the same as bringing a City to a standstill?

Incase you are blind...

Or are you happy with all of this? I am only suggesting stuff, that is far better than A what we have already tried, and B what we are doing now..

If we caused pain for Northamptonshire and the local authorities, then it may make them think twice, in allowing our club to play in a poxy hole... unless you are pleased about it.

If this did come off, you do not need to be involved. All to their own.

Fair enough. I just don't see what the next move is? Can SISU be forced into bringing the club back to the Ricoh in reality?

I said at the time and reiterated on here on numerous occasions the way to get OUR team back to the Ricoh is through the Northampton angle, that is the weak point in sisu's armour. The Northampton chairman is not popular with the locals even less now they are bottom of division 2. Planned action against him and Northampton I believe is still the way to get us home. If we can get NTFC to withdraw permission to use Sixfields I think that will bring sisu the table.

The principle is ok, but we need to be focussing on the FL etc and not other parties to demonstrate our one common thread i.e. CCFC fans. Problem being though it would be reported locally as trouble makers/hooligans, and who would take any notice at national media level. The town centre is nowhere near Sixfields either, so a lack of a focal point perhaps.

There is actually a great deal of sympahty for our plight with locals (Saints fans as well as Cobblers) - I get asked about it all the time, so impacting on the local community in a negative way (potentially) is a bit of a risk in my view.

Why not stand outside Cordoza's house, as he is complicit in the move (he live in the same street as Hoffman) - this last point is not to be taken seriously by the way!

one of the major flaws is that you want it to be a cov on the piss day .. but for fans to stay polite an legal...only takes a few to be arrested for this to completely backfire

It's a crying shame that some people don't put half as much effort into supporting the team as they do in trying to destroy it.

Not about the team, the club is the issue, please remove the blinkers and remove your head from the sand.

Who said anything about being arrested?

When I say cov on the piss day? that was just a title, not actually lets go and cause mayhem.

You would only get arrested if acted a tool, this idea is not designed for that.

Excellent, someone on my wavelength.

Exactly this is the core element here.

I would be up for that, I am sure if we were all in City colours etc etc the Media would pick up on it!! March through the town ending up on Mass near the Stadium during our game maybe?

That would be the idea smileycov, just unsure at the moment if enough would join in.

If it's on the day of a Cov game, then the Police would just have to say "turn right for the stadium" for those going by train as they come out of the station. I am not being an awkward bugger, just looking at some of the potential show stoppers for this.

And people can then say.. with pleasure as thousands gather outside to protest... what they going to do then?

That's fine, but it would be easily managed and just end up being a larger collection of people on the Hill as normal. There would be no opportunity to march through the town as originally suggested.

Simply really, you say sorry, not here for the football? and loads of ways to keep it low key information wise, so it happens without expectations arising.

Just planning within ourselves, the fans, its a free country, nothing they can do.

This can and should be done just not enough people bothered, would all rather be negative or argue between themselves looking like keyboard warriors.

The real problem is getting the numbers to Northampton... trains not enough. How many could potentially fit on the hill if it was completely chocka?

I like the sound of this and would definitely support/join it. I'd also round up everyone who would listen to me and drag them along.

The difficulty in any protest is urging people to get off their backsides and convincing them to put the energy in - most people in the city will support the cause emotionally but actually committing to spending a day of your time on it is more difficult. It would be worth getting buses/minibuses/taxis etc from any sympathetic parties, to round people up and cart them over to Northampton (perhaps making repeat journeys if needed?).

Another idea to beef up this protest and make and impact...though I admit this might be unpopular (some people would argue it's counter-productive as it harms the playing side)...would be arrive quite early on and make a human (or vehicular) ring crowding the roads surrounding the stadium, to prevent the team buses reaching the ground. It would be frowned upon by many but a delayed/cancelled kick-off would really grab attention and show how serious we are. If done peacefully and with dignity I believe most supporters in the country would sympathise with us.

It's a similar approach to that taken by the Hull/FC Basel/Levante fans in all of those tennis ball protests.

Couple of things...

Firstly this would have to be a regular event, every "home" game would be the obvious choice, a one of would do nothing.

Secondly, we would have to be a nuisance. Silent protest marching through town again I feel would have little impact. It needs to disturb the locals in a non aggressive way. Otherwise its just 5,000 people adding to the local economy every other week which would be good for the town and bad for the cause.

In reality its unlikely you would get huge numbers every other week and so the nuisance element would be harder to achieve. However, should a swell of numbers do this - regularly, then it may well have the desired effect. The council would put pressure on Cardoza and could see a premature end to the agreement.

I like your militant thinking. I think this would be a better option all round, it would certainly get results but would lose sympathy maybe with the wider football community. Saying that, what has their sympathy done for us so far?

A bit before him - it was a quote that was attributed to Abraham Lincoln.
