I wonder whether they might even have time to give us a nervous bat later tomorrow

Not sure about nervous but looks like we’ll have to bat again to win. If we could just get another 2-3 hours play today to give us a sniff. Could’ve done with another wicket yesterday, that was a bonus couple of hours play

Same plan as yesterday for me, sit at home and hopefully get at least a half hour warning after the inspection. Early wicket, being allowed to bowl pace and no rain for a few hours and we stand a chance.

Although a lot of people are focussing on that if we manage to win at the oval then it’s 21 years since they won in England

We called it quits and left, pretty obvious there's not going to be any play. Been hammering it down since around 1 and has only got heavier. Massive shame for it to end this way.

Shame for you and the others up there especially. An unsatisfactory way to decide the match and the ashes, especially after how we’ve played to put ourselves in a position to with within four days. Let’s hope we get a full game at the Oval and get level for the series, it’s the least the team deserves

It’s a fair point, that was two unexpected hours yesterday. To be fair Australia batted well, however, the ball went soft and we weren’t allowed to bowl quicks for last 30-45 mins. New ball was coming in nine overs, a couple more hours today would’ve been very interesting. The Aussies basically lucked out as we’ve battered them in this test

So why can't we go home and try again tomorrow if the forecast is better?

Why didn't they start an hour earlier and finish and hour later on days 1,2 and 3 if they knew this was coming? That's 6 hours of extra play there easy.

It's this that will turn away new fans.

It’s been like this since 5 day tests came in. New fans weren’t turned away then, and it won’t make much of a difference now.

If it was the other way round right now, the English crowd would be cheering up. Ultimately Englands tactics over the first two tests have cost them the ashes. We should have won both the first two tests

Cricket really doesn't help itself at times. Yesterday the umpires declared the pitch ok to resume at 2pm and the time of resumption was 2:45!

Been talking about this with mates. Why have a tea break yesterday when they’d only played for a couple of hours and knew rain was coming . They should certainly play until days overs are completed if weather allows every day, not just on the final day.

I don’t mind a bit of rain affected play, the odd session but basically two days have been rained off.

There’s no chance you can do that

There should be changes to make sure that 90 owners are bowled and bad light can’t be declared with floodlights on but extra days and time are a no no

How many new followers has 5 days tests gained since the introduction for you to determine it has had no impact?

How many fans could it have gained if they had in place contingency plans for the weather? I assume you have done the analysis to determine that it's made no difference.

It could have made a huge difference to the future followers and viewers of test cricket if the match had been able to be finished and England levelled the series.

Regularly happens - it’s a massive party atmosphere when the rain is saving England

What what I can work out over the first 3 days nearly 30 overs were not completed with no reason other than slow rates - there’s an instant fix there

Exactly. If the lights good enough just carry on until done, bizarre not to

Yea, or penalise teams for slow over rates

Too much bollocks with this sport, when the weather is against the game then just get on with it.

Same as the F1, sending a pace car out because the drivers aren't allowed to drive to the conditions when wet.

To add insult to injury, currently very sunny here. Would obviously have been a minimal crowd but a reserve day would have helped in this instance.
