Yeah ratings spot on, especially Thorn- more should have been made of 11 vs 10, and may as well have gone for it a bit more, didn't hunt down an equaliser enough in my opinion

A fair, honest assessment ashby, would leave mcsheff on the bench until he decided he could be bothered to make an effort.

McSheff was shocking but people fail to see it. They will slate Bell all day but never McSheff, take a look at both of their long range shots. Bell tested the keeper, Mcsheff tested the strength of the back of the telegraph stand...

Yeah... Sheffers was awful. MOTM for me is a tie between Gael and The Juke.

I'm so glad that Lukas has started to come through. He's always worked his socks off and he seemed to last the 90 minutes yesterday... something he struggled to do last year!!

I felt sorry for the Juke and the wing backs at times, they would be up by the byline with the ball and the box would be completely empty!

AT's rating is generous should only be a 4 due to reasons given - cost us any chance of getting something from the game.

I thought they were both bad but Mcsheffery was worse given the fact he had about 10 touches all game.

Sheff has turned not getting involved into a veritable artform

Similar to mine, but a bit more generous. Thought the McPake rating was a bit out of order!
I do think everyones getting a little over-excited about the kids. Maybe understandable to those who hadn't seen them in preseason, but they looked much more hesitant and unsure of themselves in the 2nd half yesterday than I've seen before (understandably).

Murphy-6.
Christie-6.
Keogh-7.
Cranie-5.
Hussey-5.
Sammy-8.
Gael-6.
Bell-5.
Baker-5.
McSheffrey-4.
Lukas-7.

Subs:
O'Donovan-6.
Wood-6.

Thorn-5

Ref: Darren Deadman-1.
Man Of The Match:The squirrel-9

very fair assessment jan 9/10

Worrying thing is that McSheffery is supposed to be mentoring our young lads!. He was poor yesterday.

That run of Jukes proved another thing - if you turned the fester backline they struggled. He was crying out for a bit of help upfront but we were ponderous, inaccurate or plain just not there in support

Young lads did well - not getting carried away by them but as debuts both had good games.

I do think that there is better to come in terms of performance but that can be said for most other teams in the division. As for fester being clear favourites - not on that performance they are not

Is going to be a long tough season

Has anyone seen the Leciester boards, they are giving all there players 7,8 and 9s

Well if Leicester fans thought that was a good performance and the best they can do they will not be promoted.

Think people are getting carried away re Biggi, not worth 7. All passes were sideways or backwards. Only made one tackle in the game, missed quite a few and although a prospect, thats all he is. Would nt like to see him a regular as he clearly needs time.

Hopefully until Deegs is fit again AT will at least rotate Biggi and Thomas, as 17/18 year olds playing twice a week in the Championship when the grounds get heavier will kill thewir careers before they've started.

Would agree with all that, Ashby. Pretty spot-on.

Have to say I don't get this 'slating Bell but not McSheffrey' comment at all, Nick. Pretty sure both have been slated fairly and accurately and i thought both were awful on Saturday, albeit for different reasons.

The reason I started a thread on David Bell was simply down to the fact that we keep hearing from inside the club that the guy is the prodigal son and such a talent and that we should expect big things from him yet again. We keep being told how brilliant he is yet we very rarely see it.

7 for the ref?

If he had booked Bamba that time instead of letting him rant in his face for well over a minute then he would have continued to earn the respect of the players and maintained order. Never seen such an obvious booking for dissent. And not just dissent, but prolonged, over the top and completely out of order dissent. The game changed from that point and that is entirely the ref's fault.

I would have given him 5 tops.

I haven't seen Sheffers play a decent game of football since he was last at Coventry before he went to Brum. Exactly why I wasn't excited about him returning. He was poor on Saturday and there seems to be minimal effort there - I blame lack of competition to fight for place in the starting 11.

Well he did, you're right, but the fact is that incident changed the game. From that point on he showed that his authority could be undermined. Never a good thing for a ref.

Murphy-6. -not much to do but catching and throwing looked good, not sure could do anything about the goal
Christie-7. - worked his behind off, fast and direct, needs to work on his cross, looked good defensivly too
Keogh-7. - best CB we had, didnt attack enough when switched to RB
Cranie-6. - gave away silly silly foul for the goal
Hussey-6. - solid game but needs to attack more
Sammy-8. - always wants the ball, true captain spirit
Gael-7- looks a real talent, good passer of the ball and good movement, always wants the ball
Bell-5. - poor, got caught in possession and didnt do anything attacking bar that one great long range shot
Baker-5. poor, didnt do anyhting meaningfull on the pitch, didnt dribble, got sent off for a silly rash tackle
McSheffrey-5. - not in the game, takes ages with throw ins
Lukas-7. - worked tirelessly and fashioned chances for himself, held up ball really well

Hummmmnnnn, people are giving Keogh 7's...in reality he's utterly useless in the air, and was at fault for Leicester's 2 best chances.

Look at the highlights for Nugent's header that hit the post and the goal, in both he gets himself in the wrong position, doesn't jump and tries to push the attacker to put them off, which had no effect...this is fundamental for a CB.

Don't get me wrong, I like Keogh...but as a full back please!!! I truly believe, given the same set of circumstances, Wood or McPake would not have let this happen. Keogh back to RB (although Christie did impress me) and McPake for me in the middle, him and Wood are both similar players, but I think McPake has better concentration. Cranie, as always, was a cool calm footballing CB, a pleasure to watch.

Very harsh on Clingan, who looked a class act. When are fans going to realise that we need 2 more like him, he cannot run the midfield on his own when he has to nurse Gael, cover for the erratic Bell and Baker and try to rein in McSheff.
8/10 MOTM for my money.

By far the best written article since I've been reading the site nice work aj.

The content fairly accurate too, although I would have awarded higher marks to both Cranie and Clingan.

Wp mate, keep up the good work.

In fact unless we're giving Macca a point for everytime he touched the ball, take two off him and split them one each to SC and MC

Bit harsh AT said it was Bell's man and that Bell slipped and lost his footing. I thought keogh played the better of the 2 centre backs.
