Honest player, hard working but quite simply not good enough and especially in a team with a more footballing dimension about it. There are times when he would be sueful from the bench for 20 minutes in specific games but at his age he needs to be playing, so thanks but no thanks and good luck at your next club Clive.

With the current squad no thanks, but with King & a few others expected to leave in the summer, we might well need him next season.

Remember Snozz's comment - We're buying at Harrod's now ? ~ well we're no longer buying at Woolies, we're not even at the pound shop, we're in the charity shops, looking for cast-offs.

I agree that we are in the charity shops but Platt belongs to a vagrant looking for ameal in the bin ... or is that a little harsh?

I think it is a little bit harsh.

For a big fella, Platt does actually have a good touch.

I think if he was to play in a side where we have crosses flying in from Hussey, McSheffrey, Bell etc he would bag a few!

I don't think we should turn our noses up at someone who actually wants to play for us, to be honest. He may not be the greatest, but if more football players had his work ethic and attitude it'd be a lot better.

I agree it's a great attitude but unfortunately it requires a bit more than desire. I want to play for us too, but like Clive I'm not good enough

looks like he will be staying but to be honest I dont rate him. I also do not see how he fits into the current style of play which relies on plenty of movement up front. Nor do i rate his heading ability, for a big man it really isnt that great and you get the impression it is the ball hitting him rather than him directing it. I suppose he is an option to come off the bench. I would let go but unfortunately with so many players seemingly leaving we have to retain someone for next season. Cheapest option as always huh SISU :thinking about:

Woah woah woah, we're not playing in the 50s pops. You have to have day-glo polyurethane super soccer sneakers to play in today's Championship. Any colour so long as it's not black.

Whilst in theory I hate the coloured boots, they are quite handy for identifying players from a distance! They shouldn't be allowed more than one of any coloured boot on the pitch at one time, though. 'Cos then it gets confusing. Like when Bell & Keogh both played on the right in bright green.

Also not sure they should be allowed to wear them until they play at least 10 1st team games-it p's me off when some kid makes his debut in them! Didn't Cain do that?

we need to get rid of Platt really, hes just simply not good enough, I can understand why hes here & why he might be offered a new deal, but if it was down to me i'd move him on and look elsewhere.

I think coloured boots look really nice when matched to the colour of the socks. Otherwise they just look aweful.

I'm actually a fan of the coloured boots. I used to play in a lovely pair of Red & Silver Nike T90's. I think it let's the players personality out a little.

With regards to Platt, I can sort of see why we should keep him. He reminds me of a cheaper version of Dele Adebola. His touch isn't that bad and a genuine target man can be very effective even when playing along the ground. His heading I feel is under-rated. It appeared to be pinging off his head when he was playing because the strikers weren't moving into spaces where he can find them. The whole team was guilty of poor movement, and expecting the fella to head it 20 yards every time to Freddy or Juke standing still with a defender on them is daft. He's an honest worker and on his day can be very handy. With good movement around him (attackers filling the correct channels) he could be a handy asset.

We're working on shoestrings so we may as well keep what we can. We certainly won't be signing 15+ big names in the summer so I think come August if we still have Platt we'll realise how useful that could be.

Didn't it say the optin for a new contract kicks in anyway automatically, as he's played 20 games?

I'm happy to keep him, although more as a backup/sub option. A squad is all about different attributes, and his strength and aerial ability give us that. He'll be more of a threat off the bench anyway-his best games for us have been when he's made an impact as a sub, wheras teams set up to defend against him as the fulcrum of Aidy's tactics knew exactly what to expect and dealt with him pretty easily.
To those who doubt him (and I'm not the biggest fan), bear in mind Lambert wanted him at Norwich. Not a bad judge, and look at what strikers he'd be up against in that squad!

I cannot fault his attitude and at times this season he has done a useful job BUT he is not Championship quality (but then again there are more like that). As a squad player...someone who wants to pull on the shirt we should keep him for one more year
