Yep, he goes in hard. Maybe why he gets all the knocks-McGrath stylee. The first article in the Telegraph after we signed him was about how a few players had complained that he'd gone in too hard in training!
He got 3 goals for us I think last year-never thought I'd praise this guy, but..he scores Julian Darby type goals! Pops up unmarked in unexpected areas after runs from deep and gets tap-ins galore. Typical box-to-box midfielder stuff, and they're a dying breed. f you want a class example, Bryan Robson. But more realisticaly, think Darby v Blackburn, when he scored twice I think. Deegans goal against Leicester was great, from about 2 inches out!
It's great to see him back and it'd help him next year if he gets some games under his belt, but I don't want him to rush back and get injured again. That's what happened last time.
Deegan is definetly an important squad player can do the jobs of Carsley/Doyle but is much younger and has potential. Hopefully he can stay injury free and become a quality midfielder for City.
Tbh I think he's a bit of a dinosaur. I'm pleased for him that he's back and there are times we could have done with him this year but I'm not sure he's a good enough footballer from the small amount that I've seen of him. I consider him a bit like a Doyler but without the experience.
That said, as always if he iswearing Sky Blue he will have my full support and I hope that he can prove me wrong.
