Whats everyone's think about the talk of Wenger possibly being replaced by the end of the season?. IMO i think it would be a mistake, arsenal dont get the same income as the man u's and chelsea. and yet he always gets his team in to the champions league. i believe he has a great eye for good young talent and does not rely on buying a team. i think if ur going to look at a well run club then u cant go far wrong than to look at arsenal and if you want a manager capable of getting a good and consistant and young team then you would want Wenger. whats ur thoughts?

Sorry got to go, he has lost the plot completely. Apparently he will have around £70M to spend next year but i would doubt they will make the champions league this year either.

He has a good eye for talent but you have to balance that with already established players, look at Utd they have quality coming through the ranks and they buy players like Ronaldo and Zaha when they are young but they still buy quality for the 'now' such as Van Persie. Wenger does not have this balance, alot of his 'established' buys have been questionnable namely Gervinho, Giroud, Chamakh, Mertersacker, Arteta etc are okay players. I think that all would get into the premier league sides but none of them are Champions League standard. Take a look back when he was buying Bergkamp, Henry, Van Persie, Pires, Anelka, Viera etc Not in the same ball park.

They were outclassed vastly by Bayern last night however i do think the title will go back to Germany. His approach has changed and they need a new approach, Pep would have been ideal in my opinion.

Absolutely should stay.

Stu, you mention a time when he bought bergkamp, henry etc. All inspired signings from Wenger, and all on a budget. However in today's game, if Wenger is interested in a player today, then you can guarantee City, Chelsea, United will be looking too. Arsenal were the club first interested in Mata, Hazard, Ageuro, and I'm sure there are other, similar instances. From that point Wenger cannot win, Arsenal can't compete financially in a bidding war for these players, and thusly Wenger is forced to operate in a different manner.
He does so and does so sustainably, in accordance with FFP rules.
If he is guilty of anything it is that football has moved on, and his methods are out dated. However with FFP coming in, I think he is the man to get Arsenal back up there.

In recent years he has been unfortunate with player loyalty (Fabregas, Nasri and RVP left within a 12 month period and you CANNOT just simply replace these players). Clearly there has been a hangover from this.

Clubs go in cycles, you can't have success year upon year. However look at what Wenger has achieved at Arsenal, he's made them one of the biggest clubs in Europe overseen the transition into a Magnificent stadium. If they sack him then they lose one of the most experienced and proven managers in world football. I'm sure Real Madrid will be happy to have him.

disagree, there are quality players out there for the right price such a michu etc. He spent a fortunate on chamberlain who is a good player but needs a lot more development. They need him to be the finished article now.

As for being 'unfortunate' to lose key players I would also disagree on this one! If a team is successful then players would stay, clearly money is an issue and wage structures are limiting the club but if you win nothing for 8 years players you mentioned will go.

Personally I would not trust him with £70M to go and develop the team, he will buy overpaid youngsters that will come good in 5 years time.

Got to go

The fact is he has not had the money to spend and has relied of turning good players into champions league material. Now apparently they will release the cash finally for him to go get the job done. He will.
His current team are not good enough.

He needs to press the refresh button himself too. last night they set up wrong and picked the wrong 11. Risicky made a huge difference when he came on. Is he soft too? Allowing Walcott to be a striker down the middle is definately not good and he should not of let that prolonged contract situation drag out. Walcott is simply not Van Persie who you would have allowed a bit of posturing. he has too many players who think they are better than they are.

But would Michu honestly improve Arsenal's side? Yes he has had a very good season, but Arsenal need world class players, and I don't think he is world class. Who else do you include in your 'etc'? Do you mean Cazorla at 12 million?

I think there is a level of misfortunate, had rvp got himself injury free (and had a season like last season) in febregas and nasri's last season at the club, Arsenal may well have won the PL. Had Barcelona not desperately courted Fabregas, then who knows where Arsenal would be right now. With the money he had at his disposal, he couldn't just spend a fortune on ready made replacements, he has to look to the future..players who in a few years will be top class players.
As I said Arsenal were heavily linked with Mata, Hazard, Ageuro and even Vertoghen, but if Arsenal are interested in a player, other clubs are aware and a bidding war, that Arsenal cannot win, ensues.

I personally think Wenger has earnt the right to have another crack at it, this time with the financial resources that are necessary. However I would agree that his transfer policy may be outdated, and the socialism wage structure needs altering.
