If he comes back now after basically saying, thanks for last season but no thanks I'll eat my hat.

This time last year I'd never heard of Adam Armstrong. I bet my left nut that Mowbray/Venus have somebody else I haven't heard of lined up. Who, may just be as good or even better. No tears from me just yet.

Another former player, another obsession.

If he came back, great. Then again, I think he was poor from January onwards (as the team was). I would rather we gave our own (G Thomas) a good run.

That's not what's said at all, obviously he wants to get into the Newcastle first team, he's not exactly going to come out saying "well to be honest, I'm not really bothered about getting into Newcastle's team, what I really want to do is go back to Coventry on loan again". If Benitez decides to loan him again then we'll be in with a chance.

Good luck breaking into Newcastle's team. There are three or four strikers ahead of him.

you would rather George Thomas than Adam Armstrong !

Not slating George at all, but I think that comment may well come back to haunt you one day

Yep.

When he stopped scoring it wasn't down to him missing chances on the whole, it was him not getting the chances.

Whole team went off the boil as has been said. Whole team being off form shouldn't point to the door of Adam Armstrong.

If we had carried on creating the chances we had been creating earlier in the season he would have carried on scoring. No doubt in my mind about that at all.

He was good don't get me wrong, but I don't think he was that good. For me he's still a league one player. You need more facets to your game to make it at a higher level.

Be interesting to see how he does in the Championship if he gets a chance.

Agree with the general principle. Not sure if Thomas is up to it mind.

I've not said he's a bad player. Just don't think he was half as good as some make out.

their newspaper site comments are as bad as ours !!

http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spor...ews/rafa-benitez-hand-adam-armstrong-11629122

"Armstrong was poor in the Epl yes he did well in the first division but will he step up in the Championship let's just wait and see but i hope he goes out on loan maybe to a Championship team .But anyone that says he was good in the Epl no nothing about football he was out of his depth"

Championship league?? Some of our fans thought he should have been playing for Newcastle last season. He's still raw and very green, a good prospect but he needs a LOT of technical work.

If he has his heart on pushing for 1st team football then fair play to him, he will see where he fits in within the first couple of weeks of the season. Good player and needs to push himself to find his level, better than League 1? he already knows he is, wish him well. I think he will always look back at us for a 1st option if things do not work out up there and would take him back in a heartbeat.
