Just thought - does anyone else think the area final was/is more important to us then the actual final itself? I mean in terms of the result.
Lets face it - the real prize for us was the day at Wembley and 40,000 odd of us there. Dont get me wrong, Id want us to win were we there, and it would top the whole experience off very nicely, but I cant really picture myself at Wembley crying and waving my hands at god screaming 'Finally weve won the JPT!!!!!!!!!!!!'.
Im not trying to disrespect the cup and believe me I was there from the start against Burton Albion - but think there cant have been many occassions where the semi final would have in effect meant more to a club then the final.
Any thoughts? Why do I post this stuff - massively putting myself out there to be shot down probably!
I know what you mean, think the semi final of this competition is (well would have been) far more exciting than the actual final, but obviously I wouldn't have said no to seeing city at wembley
I want the day out at Wembley too. In fact despite the risk involved, then unless we're to be champions I think I would prefer a play-off final to going up second in the automatics. Guess I'm just sick.
If I was offered the choice between going up automatically or being in the play offs id go automatically - but I agree, if I had the choice of how we went up, Id say winning the play off final. I want the day at Wembley! plus the result would matter, and how good would it be doing it at Wembley.

That's intresting, if someone offered you 2nd place or take your luck in the play offs you'd take play offs? I understand the reasoning behind, it but I'd rather be gaurenteed promotion to the championship
I suppose it is a bit sadistic isn't it, like staying up on the last day of the season (most notably at WHL in 97) gives you more of a thrill as a fan than finishing 16th and surviving with 2 games to spare

No I think Rob said he would take his luck in the play offs rather then go up in 2nd. I meant if I could chose which way we go up id take winning at wembley - getting to have the big day out, all on the line and winning it over 90 mins sounds awesome. Id take that over even winning the league.
Id take going up automatically over risking the play offs if winning them wasnt guarenteed though!
