We’ve got 7 games in December including Blackburn away that was abandoned with 10 to go and us a goal down and man down. It’s always an important month but this year seems particularly pivotal. The two games against you stand out as being particularly important. They should be good games.

Blackburn's form is now catching up with their underlying stats so will be a tough extra game to be thrown in.

I believed Ipswich would dominate the league based on how much you manhandled us in the FA cup. Whilst we played a weakened side, the players you mentioned on the bench would start for most, if not all the teams in the league.

Too much competition is just as bad as no competition and that’s why McKenna doesn’t know his best eleven yet.

As for McKenna, are fans starting to doubt him? From the outside looking in, it looks like the old stalwarts leaving has changed the dynamics. A similar thing happened to us with Robins after 22/23.

The vast majority of fans are 100% behind McKenna. We had 20 years of decline before he came along and gave us 2 incredible seasons. It wasn’t just the promotions but the quality of football was incredible at times. Burns goal against you at PR was one of about 20 great goals we scored that year, albeit it is my favourite ever Ipswich goal in 50 years as a supporter.

There is a minority of fans who are doubting him and a small but vocal (online) band who want a change. It’s heart over head most of it - all our favourites have gone, replaced by quality players but who don’t (yet) have the credit in bank of doing great things at Ipswich. Woolfy, Chaplin, Broadhead, Morsy and others all left in the summer. None of them have pulled up trees at their new clubs but every time we don’t win a game you can guarantee that there will be noise from some saying they should still be at our club starting every game.

mcKenna is the best we’ve had for 40 years and the best we’ll get. He’s a quality manager and most of the fans love him.

It’s a free hit. We’d lost the game in September so to get another chance is a bonus. In fairness the pitch was a joke and played a big part in the goal (iffy penalty) and the sending off when it wasn’t possible to run properly through the puddles. Without wishing to sound cocky, I think we’ll win that one just because it’s how football works out more often than not.

If you’re winning Blackburn will just flood the pitch

Trying not too. Weirdly though if I was looking at any other team in our position I’d be confidently saying you may as well give them the trophy now. Our stats are consistent with league winners of past seasons and rule of thumb 90/91 points is enough for autos off which we’re already a third of the way there without having played a third of our games. Then there’s the game against Sheffield United, the perfect response to our first defeat in the league. Tomorrow is a massive game, Stoke are a big surprise this season, 4th highest goal scorers and best defensive record in the league. Win tomorrow and that’s a big result, too early in the season to declare it a six pointer but it would be a big statement. See where we are in January and then I’ll maybe start letting myself believe.

I thought this was interesting. Being honest, the tactics goes over my head, but some great analysis and explanation in there

In all seriousness, Rudoni coming back is going to make a huge difference over the final furlong

Yes I think we will. Whether it’s going to be enough is questionable. We badly lack a real leader (Morsy was the best captain we’ve had in decades, only Mills and possibly Butcher come close for leadership). We’ve got lots of great attacking players that are lovely to watch but we still lack a cutting edge at times. Watford on Tuesday was another example of us creating good chances and not taking them.

As for McKenna. He’s got a huge contract - £5m a year apparently. Celtic won’t come close to that and won’t meet his release clause (again £5m according to reports). I don’t think he’ll go there but it’s a case of when not if he leaves. Despite recent results and last season I wouldn’t swap him for any other manager in the EFL.

Mckenna's stock is falling all the time currently. He got you back to back promotions but you barely made a fist of it in the Prem and is doing nothing this season in what's a fairly poor standard Championship. I don't see any club getting to 90 points this season.

If you don't get promoted this season it will be back to back failures and with owners as they are now Mckenna will probably be getting a nice compensation package.

Im more confident when im watching us play these days, mainly because we are seem more clinical in front of goal, even taking into consideration our missed big chances.

Too early to start believing though. Probably been mentioned elsewhere but the Mowbray meltdown season is still lodged in my memory (appreciate very different circumstances as we were reliant on kids then)

As others have said, see where we are after Christmas. It’s been a joy to watch us this season though, so just enjoying the ride….the great entertainers !

Well yeah, but just by the law of averages, we are more than likely to suffer further injuries to key players as the season wears on.

Be a miracle if we don't.

This is why I think the January window is so important.
