Maybe i've missed a bit of news or something, but i dont think i have because it often takes time for the two clubs to agree a figure for a player, and even longer if it goes to a tribunal. Was just wondering if A) I've missed news on whether a figure has been agreed (which i don't think i have) or B) Does any one know the sum that we are looking for, for him?
Seemed to had gone very quite on this topic, without one of the major ascpects of the deal being identified (from what i know)

I thought I read somewhere that compensation had been agreed and that it had avoided a tribunal. No mention of the figure though mate.

We should due to his age, but regardless of if it's been settled in a tribunal or not; it'll only be a couple of thousand. Not really much to use for transfers, maybe a few months wages for someone, but as it stands; it'll just go in someone's back pocket I fear.

125k?! Is it just me or does that sound like sweet FA? He was signed 3 years ago for a fee (we would have had to have paid compo or a fee to AZ), has improved as a player (despite having a couple of average seasons) and is an International midfielder. How does that only equate to 125k?
Does anyone have any idea how they work out the compensation fees?

Won't be much, AFAIK the rules state that the compensation is a "training fee" and IIRC it's based on how long he's been there below a certain age, nothing to do with his status as a player. Could be wrong though, I found the FIFA rules once but my Google skills have let me down since.

I seem to remember we had to pay £650k for Best - makes me wonder how Gunnarson could be less?

It's essentially a development fee for CCFC having developed him as a player. It's then down to club A to offer club B a figure through a tribunal. I believe international recognition etc is a factor. 125k is the amount with a further 75k next summer.

Sorry, I completely dispute that! If he have a look around, a player of Arons profile will go for around 400k-900k at tribunal. The only reason for taking a lower offer would be if you wanted to just get the cash in quick..oh wait, I see now

So, SISU's need to cash in quick has cost us most of what we'd have got if we'd have waited for the tribunal? Given that what they did with season tickets and prize-money cost them 200k to get cash in quickly, I imagine they've done the same in a flash with Aron. Not very good at business this lot, are they? Reckon I could hammer them at Monopoly. Maybe Ken should go to Cash For Gold?

Basically, the cost of his training x3 years is what we'll get!

Thanks. That's the document I read and I basically read it the same way as well.

The Best deal is totally different, he was sold, he wasn't out of contract.

To be fair, why do you doubt it? They've got a reputation for playing hardball, have got better deals for any of our players than previous boards and are obviously wiping the floor with Hoffman in the big business stakes at the moment.

They may be shit and evil, but they're not bad negotiators...

He wasn't sold to us.... It was a free transfer from Southampton & the compensation was set by tribunal. Initially the fee was set at £650,000 but got to almost £1m by the time we sold him to Newcastle (according to RR), with appearances & reaching international level.

We'll see

Best's fee was set by tribunal after he rejected a new contract with Southampton.

I'm bloody confused about all this talk of tranfer rumours, and sell on clauses from past players.
I'm going to drink too much again I can see it coming.Once a week Cov talks/rumours get on my nerves, and i have to resort to alcohol to try and get my brain around things.
Thats my excuse any way.

Infact I think it was the fact that we didn't pay the Tribunal fee for Best that lead to one of our transfer embagos... although I may be wrong
