It was much lower than you'd think 0.08 somehow

Don't think we go up this season personally, I thought we would go on a decent run at some point, but even if we make the play offs which we are well placed to do now, I think we lose over 2 legs to whichever teams end up finishing 3/4th.

Next year is our year I feel, but will gladly be wrong.

Completely agree, but we need to get out the mentality of "next year" imo. We've been next year for a few seasons and I think that's contributed to our seasons not starting til Nov/Dec.

We have a stadium? We just need to purchase it/get better access to it's revenue?

It's surprising to me that, after all of the bad goals we gave up earlier with Collins, our xGA is higher than our actual GA.

It isn't, not sure where that table was from but it's wrong. GA 41, xGA ~35

You’ve got to admit it’s weird we’re doing better while our xG has gone backwards though.

Could it be that our xG is reduced because we've been ahead in games, as a result we have generally sat back more?

I haven't seen the stats, how much has our xG regressed?

I wouldn’t worry about the team not being prem quality - until we get there!

No team promoted to the premier league is prem ready. We would have to recruit well in the summer to give ourselves the best shot. Either way though I’d take a pummelling every week in the prem then never go up. We have to aspire to being in the top division and by going up, we get parachute payments.

No but you have to have a decent core; It is high risk to try to buy the bulk of a new team over a summer break. Notts Forest very much the exception. Burnley seem to have the right approach.

I see no point in being pummeled every week or even being Crystal Palace, where success is 16th and failure is 17th. Boring. I'd rather be chasing the Play offs each season. It's great fun, you win most weeks and the football is a high enough quality

Isn't there a table or graph that show how many goals we've scored or let in and how many games we've played and points we've scored??? I can't seem to find one that matters !!

Surely getting promoted would trigger a sale by Doug, as we'd have increaed in value and he would pick up a nice little earner??
It could be our turn to be bankrolled by a nice rich billionaire who has some idea of how a footy club works!!

The only thing I really care about right now is finishing strong. Even if we make playoffs I'm not sure we have the strength to go win them. But I do care a lot about retaining our best players for another season. If we finish strong I think it will sway some of that talent to stick around. A bit like Vik and Hamer who I am certain would have stayed with us if we got promoted, we want players to love the club and want to get there with us.

You'd like to think we could yo yo.
Of course receiving parachute payments is one thing, using the money wisely is another.

That's something I think King could be trusted to do though I think theres a strong possibility he'd punt us if we got promoted.

We haven’t seen our true potential yet. Things could fall into place playing a back 4 with sheaf and grimes in front and haji/emc on the wing

My issue is, and I know a lot of people disagree with me, but is now the time to try and find out?

6 league wins in 7 playing a back 5, brave man to change it.

That's the thing: if something is clearly working, then I'm not sure why people are so desperate to change it.

I could see us using both depending on the game, and we’ve already seen us switch formation mid game. I think having sheaf back will give the defence the extra cover it needs as a 4, and with wright we’ll have more going forward too.

Yeah, we've switched formation late on in a few games but the starting formation has been a back 5.

The players coming back will be a game changer but I still think it would take a brave man to change it at this point.

It's a nice conundrum for Lampard to have and with Sheaf and Wright back it will be the strongest squad we've had going into the last couple of months but it brings its own pressures.

If we want to bring in Sheaf and Wright when they are fit, as well as EMC I don't think we have much choice than to play 4-3-3. It would seem daft to me to have Lati playing at the expense of EMC or Wright so that we can continue playing 3 centre backs.

Yesterday was our 5th game in 14 days and it showed also the pitch was a leveler, how they get away with that year after year god only knows. Sometimes a team and a manager are a lucky combination, perhaps Frank is that manager that gets the run of the ball that gets us over the line. If we beat Preston well I might start to be excited and the next 4 games are all winnable but the test will come in March, Sunderland, Sheffield and Burnley. If we get 5 points or better then it will be on.

Hard to find without a load of work I can’t be arsed with (yet) but we’ve dropped from second in the xG league to I think 4th.

Someone said this theory before but I don’t buy it TBH. Teams at the top tend to be teams that win more than they lose. Leeds are consistently top for example. Would be interesting to see a correlation between time behind and xG but generally I just don’t buy that teams that go behind create more chances and concede fewer rather than just carrying on being behind.

I agree, I think the opposite is true if I'm honest.

We've sacrificed some attacking fluidity in the past few weeks, I wouldn't say it's a complete swap for defensive solidity, more just not using the system that made those chances and missing one of the players in the league with a consistently high individual xG in Wright.

When EMC came on yesterday we basically went 343, I wonder if that’s the compromise, but it does make it hard to fit Rudoni in. Something like:

Dovin
Lats Thomas Kitching
MvE Grimes Sheaf Bidwell
Saka Simms EMC/Wright/whatever you’re doing with the front three.

Yeah quite likely he will sell and Lampard will probably bail too because of possible inevitable offers for him

However it'll turns out don't think Lampard will be here more than 2 or 3 years.
If he's here for 3 he'll probably be in the top 10 longest serving managers in the country, just the way it is.

What? So you never want to see us in the Prem & just rather watch us in the Championship for the rest of eternity because you're scared we'd lose a few matches in the top flight?
What a ridiculous post
