Bit of a sensationalist title - but think you know what I mean;

After the the last few seasons and some of the flair, going forwards, having players like Hamer, Vik, O'Hare, playing some exciting football and failing to get over the line....
Are we/could we manage to just grind/luck our way into the play-off and possibly beyond with this group of just not very exciting or real stand out performers after all that has gone before!?!

Or will we possibly be found out/have used up all our luck before the end of the season.

Discuss.....

At most, I feel we could underwhelmingly grind out 2-1’s and 1-0’s in and around the playoffs.

Unless there’s an upturn in quality, organisation and certain players finding some level of consistent competence, then any chance of reaching a playoff final is slim.

I’m just enjoying being 7th; hopefully we can push on and surprise a few on the way.

Don't think we go up this season personally, I thought we would go on a decent run at some point, but even if we make the play offs which we are well placed to do now, I think we lose over 2 legs to whichever teams end up finishing 3/4th.

Next year is our year I feel, but will gladly be wrong.

I still think that people over estimate our football previously. It wasn't like watching Brazil even then.

Is what we are doing enough to take us up? I'm not sure we will have enough to keep it going all season but I'd love it if we did

Considering the season was over in October and relegation was the talk, this is quite remarkable. It’s taken a new manager to get here. I reckon there’s too much quality with the likes of Burnley or SU if we meet them in any leg in semi or final, however I would rather be in it than not and anything can happen if Lady Luck is on our side. If anything if we’re still in the Champ next season, what a platform for Frank to build off. He’s got to be backed big style by Doug in summer.

I think we make the play offs but but go out in the semis.

Luckily, I am wrong about most predictions.

The style of play in 22/23 wasn't especially exciting.
Take results over performance every time

I don’t want to burst anyone’s bubble , but have you considered an off spell of form , as Middlesbrough are going through now ?
We all want the play offs , but we still have big games to come , before Wembley again ?

Probably quite similar in style/quality to what we're seeing at the moment, the difference being of course that we had Vik and Hamer to conjure up absolute quality out of nothing - which we don't really have currently (certainly not on their level anyway).

We were much better defensively back then too. Never felt like we were going to concede with Fadz Doyle and McNally.

We don't have anyone individually near their level but collectively their is a lot of talent and goalscoring threat

And Kelly and Sheaf/Eccles in front of them. It was basically a back 8 with Godden , Vik and Gus scoring goals out of nothing

Yeah weirdo delusions from the Robins obsessed aside we were much better set up then with more quality in attack when we did break. We basically never let Wilson have a shot to save.

Still don’t know how we’re doing it, just finish top 6 first then anything can happen, just worries me with that defence against the 2 teams we’ll have to play,

I think you are ignoring the fact that we have been playing without our best flair players and for the most part our best central midfielders ( Sheaf and Grimes).

I suspect our style will improve as the season progresses, but whether that improves results is difficult to forecast.

We’ve been better than most teams in xG save Norwich, Sheffield W and Leeds. Two of which are away games which is pretty normal for home teams to have higher xG generally.

We rode our luck yesterday because their keeper dropped an absolute clanger and fair play to Simms for getting in his way for the tap in.

Luck evens out over a 46 game league campaign and there times it’s fair to say we’re unlucky. We lost when we should’ve drew and drew when we should’ve won.

We should have beaten Wednesday at our place and lost to a sucker punch when pressing for the winner.

At times its not been pretty, (though some games have been pretty good), but won't have that it's been lucky, we've got what we deserved.

I do think a lot depends on Sheaf and Wright. When on form, they’re our two best players. If they can raise the levels, then we’ve got a good chance.

We don’t need to raise levels.

On current form we will comfortably make the playoffs.

We just need to maintain levels

Calm down folks. We still need WBA or Blackburn to slip up and us to carry on as we are. It's a tall order

I think you're right. But we need to get their first.
I don't think many of us thought we would at the turn of the year so to be in the position we are is a great achievement.

One step at a time.

West Brom and Blackburn are in midtable form and have been for some time. That by definition is slipping up given their current standing.

Blackburn have picked up slightly in recent games but it remains to be seen whether they can keep it up.
