Apparently Nene Park is being prepared for us (1 Viewer)

For the record I have no interest in winding up or posting false information but I have thought about it and considered if it it could be true.

I was told today that NENE Park has had the power restored and has had the grass cut and currently has various parties in there sorting it in preparation for Coventry City.

I thought if it was true could it make sense to move there on the cheap whilst this 3 year plan to build a new stadium gets actioned ?

Kind of like moving to a crappy cheap flat whilst you wait for your dream house to be built...

It's just something I heard and I thought it would make sense IF there is any substance to the new stadium buisness

Who told you this?

Presumably the FL would need to saction a mid-season move. Not only that, it is out of area really, and I thought that was banned after the MK Dons fiasco.

Also, it holds 6k fans - where will all of our fans sit?

Who ever told you this is talking bull****, FA Would never allow it in mid season and more importantly our owners will just screw the ground owners over the rent or ask.for a reduction after being in there for a week

I don't think they would have to worry about where fans sit. Can't see 6,000 city fans traveling to Northampton, we barely get 10,000 at the Ricoh. Not that I think this will happen, buy I certainly won't making that journey every other week.

At another ground? I'll be at Leamington! Only I won't, as I just can't see this happening.

And if we were to make the play-offs they would be missing out on 25,000+ crowds.

If Sisu do want the fans on their side this wouldn't be the right way of going about it.

I am really not clued up on figures etc... but if we get nothing from revenue , do we just get ticket sales ?

Is there some way of calculating income potential from a play off push against long term rent reduction ?

Miss out on an extra 15,000 fans for half dozen games , 15,000 fans x 6 games x £25 = 2.25M

Not got a clue about rent cost versus that

Suppose this isn't complete nonsense and the owners actually do want to build a new stadium, using Nene Park as a stopgap. What if there are delays building said new ground (more likely than not)? Left in a 6,000 capacity ground for years on end, basically cementing us as a basement division side in terms of attendance and any hope of recouping investors' money gone down the pan.

Seems totally plausible to me.

Sounds like a plan to get the club out of this division.

Going down :p

When someone posts a statement on here which to all the world appears to be bull...despite the caveats around 'nothing to gain from a wind up' or 'I've heard it but it could be untrue'...but then disappear off the thread and ignore other posters questions....

...what conclusion can we draw?

Ok so we wont agree on the rent deal on offer at the Ricoh as we want access to revenue streams with regard to the implementation of the financial fair play rules.....................
BUT
we would be willing to move miles away to a ground holding only 6,000 fans, alienating lots of hard core fans, losing season ticket holders and therefore cutting revenue streams.

Sounds like a crock to me, even SISU are not that stupid.

Rumour doing the rounds is a ground share with Hinckley, holds roughly 5000. Which is obviously not enough. But I guess it's watch this space!
