I have been told such a thing exists. Does it? To keep track of one particular avenue of spending.

I am going on holiday to Cornwall next week and my girlfriend and I have decided to go halves on everything and for us to both put in a dedicated amount and try and make that last us for the week.

So, say we both put £200 each.

So, I have my current account and a savings account within the current account, but I could really do with an option of flexibility within the account so I could actually have the option of paying via say the savings account and not have to keep moving money about.

Basically, I just want to be able to keep track of just the money I am spending in Cornwall and not all the other stuff coming out to pay for other stuff, such as DD's etc. while we are there.

I have been told there are apps, but I really don't see how there can be, unless it's a app within your own bank's banking system..

Could you not get one of those top up debit cards and whack £200 each on?

I know the obvious answer is to use cash, but I just wondered if there was any digital way to move money about

The Revolut app is quite good for that and also lets you set up virtual cards as well as a physical one if you want. You see all transactions live and you can top it up from your bank account or card.

Yeah the virtual cards are good, didn't know if they can be used in stores etc. Guess if you linked it to apple / google pay you could.

Yeah you can link them to Apple pay, when my physical card got nicked on holiday I used the virtual as back up. They also have single use ones.

My missus is talking about an app where you put the money in "buckets"

I have no idea what she is talking about

She is an accountant though, so I am hoping she at least knows what she is talking about

With Monzo bank you can add "pots" and then spend from there.

That's a whole new account though.

It depends what banking app you’ve got i guess. I’ve created an account for a second property I’ve bought so only transactions relevant to that go into it. It’s very easy on the app to do and has a separate card but feeds of the main account if that makes sense
