Apart from the obvious one, McGoldrick, whether he will stay with us after deadline day, any news on whether ther other 3 loan signing, James Bailey, Frank Moussa and Blair Adams, have tied anything up with us, post-January?

IMO very important for Adams to stay, best left back we have had for years.

Happy Christmas to all Sky Blues fans PUSB!

Moussa is on a short term contract, but haven't heard anything of that being extended. Adams and Bailey are key players for us but I think Thomas could take Bailey's place.

Adams is out of favour at Sunderland, same with Bailey at Derby so both are very possible!

Who cares? Why does everyone have to be so picky, you spell a word wrong on here and everyone comes down on you like a ton of bricks as if you just said something really wrong and offensive

The thing we do need to be aware of is that the teams right at the top end of the league usually strengthen in the January window where possible.

At the mo it seems like we are only focusing on bringing parity.

Let's hope we have other irons in the fire too, rather than be only replacing the likes of DMC with another striker. We need more weapons in our armoury.

Cody whose face doesn't fit? Hussey who we are looking to let go? Bell who's always injured? Ball, who we've seen all but nothing of? ROD who has been constantly overlooked by a number of managers? Brown? Are you serious? The guy was a liability and we are a much better side defensively without him.

If these guys are ones we need to rely on when injuries strike then my 14th place prediction is looking very safe.

The only 3 I am confident about amongst that lot is Thomas, Clarke and Cameron.

We need to strengthen, not rely on back-ups who have all but been left in the wilderness, along with those who are very, very injury prone, i.e. David Bell. 85 games in FOUR years, or those who simply are not good enough.

As I've said before, we may not have a small squad, but the quality we have with the squad is not that great. Not much strength in depth for a few positions.

do teams rely on their backups more than their first team?

exactly

and ALL of those players can do a job for us,even if its in a limited capacity

Yea if we are talking about all of them playing in the same team week in, week out we are in big, big trouble. If we are talking about 1/2 of them playing in the odd game then they should be able to do a job for us

That just confirms how low on quality the squad is.

True but I suspect the manager thinks the same. I expect at least 5 of those to be gone soon.

i think those in bold will go with bell and brown returning in the summer

rest i think may well stay which still gives us a big squad

I'm sure Blair Adams is out of contract in the summer, so if we can get him til end of season then pick him up on a free. If I'm honest, I would rather keep bailey and Adams than mcgoldrick if I had to choose

The squad is fairly big in terms of numbers, but we're woefully short of quality in some key areas. The big one being the holding midfield position. We needed another body in there in the second half on Saturday, but with Thomas out we've got no kind of back up for that position.

We'd have to pay compensation even if its on free as he's under 24, and I'd imagine it would be a hefty fee.

I meant by the standards of what we have spent this season, I.e 1 solitary fee of £100k. Swindon had to pay £140k compensation for James Collins and he'd only been at Shrewsbury for 18 months.

Huddlesfield reportedly agreed a compesation of around £400k for Norwood in the summer, we had to pay £650k for borrowdale.

Anything around or above £100k is hefty fee for us

So mention it once which you did initially but when you keep going on about it after he said he knows it just makes you look a dick

I mean he wasn't in the matchday squad. I assume he's still not quite 100%.

Totally agree.

We have a big squad, but in terms of quality it's small.

Apologies for being a realist.
