That was me. This is a scandalously overhauled price simply to make a huge profit.

The in-laws in Russia were thinking about offering a whole package service over there, including arranging hotels and tours to the Motherland statute, and the tickets themselves were on sale were so cheap (something like about £9-£10 each) that even doubling the price would still have made it a really, really excellent price for travelling fans.

Would you think offering a ticket to a world cup final at say £20 was ripping people off? (I don't think they would have even charged as much as that to be honest)

£150 for tickets worth £36 each is a massive rip-off.

Big, big difference. One was trying to help people and the other is just trying to get as much money out of people as they can.

If that's the case Otis fair enough.
This eBay plum is clearly a dreamer, wouldn't be grassing him up though!

Where the inlaws live btw?

Volgograd. A venue for the 2018 competition.

My sister in law lost a her job a few months ago, working on behalf of the local university. She now wants to branch out an be an independent tour guide.

She's very good and her English is excellent.

She was hoping to tie in with a few hotels over there and do some tours.

Actually, my missus has just in and I asked her and she said they had no intention of selling the match tickets at a higher price, so there you go.

That's me misread that. I think the sister in law thought she could make a bit of commission with the arranging the hotels and tours.

I might be in touch for some info nearer the time, planning to go subject to qualification.
I think I'm in the minority but I reckon a Russia World Cup will be decent.

The thing is though if someone doesn't pay you have to wait a couple of weeks before you can escalate it. So if someone has bought them and now waits to see if they can get some at face value then they probably won't pay. Just a thought.

I don't see any difference. If market forces dictate the price is five fold then that's the value the purchaser feels is worth it.

Exactly if I want to buy your house and it is overpriced I ether pay it or come away disappointed.
Saying that would never pay a touts.

Remember the ones at the FA Cup final in 87 getting a good kick in and having their tickets taken and handed out.

User ID Price Quantity Date of purchase
e***9 ( 224 ) £150.00 1 21-Feb-17 16:48:01 GMT
b***b ( 517 ) £150.00 1 21-Feb-17 16:45:58 GMT

Looks like the seller got £150.00 for each ticket, just hope the buyers change their mind and don't pay

Complete difference.

All about the intent. One is showing consideration and trying to be fair, the other trying to milk the situation for all its worth.

Absolutely miles apart to my mind.

I can't understand everyone out of their pram about this. I've not done it and wouldn't before anyone asks, but this goes on at every event, every day up and down the country. They could get egg on their face if no one buys - that's the risk in getting them. Tbh no different to what Ticketmaster themselves are doing. Supply and demand.

Plenty worse stuff going on and they're hardly crack cocaine dealers.

What I can't understand though is why someone would be desperate enough to pay hugely over the odds, when they could get a match package and a ticket, meaning you get to go to more games for the same value and help the club instead of lining someone's pockets.

Concert ticket touting is not illegal. Football ticket touting is illegal.

Big difference between football and 'other events'.

They were daft to pay that amount so early in the proceedings, there will be tickets free at the end of the ST process but its disappointing that people are taking advantage of this situation.
There will always be people who will pay over the odds

I know there is but I don't understand why. Would be interesting to see if challenged in court how they differentiate between say thus and an Ed Sheeran ticket.

Are there any other events / sports where fans are segregated? That could be where it started.

Although I would love us to sell out our end of the stadium....part of me would like it to not quite sell out so all those that bought extras in order to make a quick buck end up out of pocket.

My guess is hooliganism and it's probably been a law that was enforced years ago when rife.

Perhaps, but only if performed by a tradesman who has been checked and verified using a time machine.

If we sell out and the other team aren't looking like doing so, will we get more tickets or are we limited to 40k even if there's 10k at the other end?

Only 20k left to sell to the bandwagoners and the non season ticket holders. It will sell out easy. Don't underestimate the power of the bandwagon!
