Simple question ... do we think we can get him to sign a new contract pre being free agented in the summer and if so ... why ?

Funny, I was thinking that earlier. I think he's an important player for us...goalscoring midfielders are rare (certainly for us) and I know he's played up top sometimes, but I'd be doing our best to hang on to him. The one thing I will say is that I have a lot of trust in SP and SW. If we lose Moussa, it will be because someone puts in a silly bid and we'll accept (in the same way Utd sold Ronaldo, Spurs sold Bale, Bradford sold Wells etc etc). It happens.

When David McGoldrick went, I was gutted. They replaced him with Leon who hasn't done too bad since. I'll be gutted if Moussa goes but he's done good for the club and I'd trust SP and SW to find a suitable, if not better, replacement.

I think we'll struggle, I believe he could cut it in the championship quite easily. And any midfielder scoring 10 plus in any division will be on peoples radar.

I think money talks....he deserves a decent contract for his contribution this season - would be nice to start implimenting some buy out clauses in our "best players" contracts.

We had loads of fantastic players over the 50 odd years I've been following City, and I have always been gutted when they left, but they have to move on for whatever reason. There's always someone else to come along and be the next "wonder-player".

For the first time in a few years we seem to be playing with a philosophy and an actual recognisable system that players can fit into. It seems to be more about the system than the individuals, so I'm not overly bothered if we lose the odd player.

Anyone who doesn't want him to stay is mental. I'd put keeping hold of him a priority over keeping Leon Clarke at the moment.

I only say that because:
a) We'd get a fee for Leon who quite clearly wants out;
b) I don't know if its just this place but Moussa seems underrated by a portion of our fans;
c) He scores insanely good goals. I like seeing our players score insanely good goals. It makes me happy;
d) At his age, he can only get better and better.

We're obviously not privvy to what goes on behind the scenes in terms of contract negotiations until a player has signed an extension or confirmed he will be leaving but I would so disappointed in the club if we hadn't at least started contract negotiations with Moussa.

I agree with Sterling Archer, I actually feel that Moussa is more important to retain than Clarke, the strange thing is, despite him not having resigned, unlike Clarke, I don't think his head has been turned just yet ... and hence we could, if we lifted the offer perhaps, at least get another year out of him ... he is young after all !

Think you're right Hill.. regretably.
Franck's good enough for the championship easily..... If we can clinch a playoff spot and a return to the Ricoh... it would help our cause to resign him... the first a distant possibility the latter seems more and more unlikely with every passing day. :(

Which senior first team players have signed a new deal since Sisu arrived?

Baker. McSheffrey. Anyone else?

A £10 note & a bag of crisps then SISU will sell

Yes, because thats exactly what has happened so far with rejecting the initial Wolves bid for Leon Clarke a few weeks ago.

I bloody hate these kind of nonsensical SISU bash at every opportunity posts that contribute nothing to the discussion.

Yes SISU have made a decision to move us to Northampton that is beyond awful (we know, we were all there when it happened, you'll be hard pressed to find a Coventry fan who doesn't know we're playing Northampton) but you can't tarnish them with other brushes just to have random digs at them ALL THE BORING TIME.

Potentially derails a good discussion about something completely different.

Agree, Sterling. Reminiscent of all those threads in August that guaranteed we'd lose them all in that window too. Players come and go and always have done. We can't blame the owners for everything.

I am starting to think he is off. Its down to two things in my opinion. He either wants away and is waiting for an offer or he is happy here but is holding out for a better deal than the one on the table. Personally I think he could be off. Shame because I like him and he brings a lot to the team.

considering he'd had a fairly lengthy Introduction as an unsigned player and we'd had a good look at him i was surprised that he only got signed up for 18 months while everyone else got longer offers ,so i'm guessing the length of his deal was his choice ,suggesting we're his shop window to better things IMO.
