Going on holiday 19th Aug. Just done a bit of planning whilst the wife was out. Found somewhere to stay near Yeovil on Fri 17th and staying until morning of 19th Over 300 miles away so need to make weekend of it as don't want to risk turning up late. Halfway along the journey is Brum. Told wife she is to go shopping in Yeovil whilst I am at the game. Is anyone going to the game that would like a beer or few before the game? Not used to going by myself.

Work getting in the way sorry. Yeovil will be my 1st game of the season. Looking forward to it as never been to Yeovil for football before.

Going to be doing my best to go to certain grounds I have not been before. Wife is going to hate this season

I will be there Astute as i only live 40 mins away,My dad is a season ticket holder so going to sort me a ticket out,According to my Bristol City mates it's on the edge of the city nowhere near any pubs although they do put a marquee up for away fans for drinks outside the away end.Though this was not the case for them as all pubs were shut for the day.
crap parking too apparently one road in and out of an industrial estate, nightmare to get to and from!!!

Not for shopping There are a few clothes shops. The wife will be delighted.

Going away for the first couple of weeks of the season. Will then look at where I can go. My nearest to where I live is Carlisle, just over an hour away. Going to do some miles this season.

Never been to Crawley so hope I can make that one.

Its an hours drive from me, so ill be at Yeovil. Mad for it !!!

Btw, your wife needs to go to Street. Its a clarks shopping village just outside Yeovil, designer shops like Timberland and that, at factory prices. Will make her happy and keep her occupied, which means more beer time for you

Well at least there will be a few of us there. Hopefully we can fill this marquee and outsing the natives. Just been looking for info. Not allowed in the marquee in club colours At least we can stand up and go mental each time we score.....

Away fans are situated in the Copse Road open terrace at one end of the ground. This is uncovered, so hope for a dry day. Up to 1,750 supporters can be housed in this area. Additionally 300 seats are allocated to away fans in the Screwfix Community Stand, which is covered. However tickets are only made available in this area to families with young children, senior citizens and ambulant disabled.
Normally a visit to Huish Park is enjoyable, and the atmosphere good. This is boosted by a very vocal crowd in the home terrace as well as the presence of a drummer and trumpeter in that end (on my last visit the trumpeter was even imitating an ambulance siren as the trainer ran on to treat an injured player!). If Yeovil score then 'Glad All Over' by the Dave Clark Five blasts out around the ground.
On my last visit I was five minutes late getting to the game and had missed the kick off. Unbelievably the turnstiles had already closed at the away end. Myself and a number of other away fans had to run around the ground to try and find and someone who could get us in. We managed this, and I have to say that the stewards were particularly helpful and friendly. I found the large police presence in and around the ground perturbing. In my mind I was not at a high profile game, so I was somewhat surprised at the amount of local constabulary there.
I was pleasantly surprised to find a large marquee outside of the ground, that had been set up as a make shift beer tent. There was a large sign outside the marquee which announced that 'Everyone Is Welcome!' Just a pity that wasn't quite correct as any away fans in colours were turned away at the entrance by a couple of burly looking bouncers. Some visiting fans did refer the bouncers to the said sign, but to no avail.
There are three pubs within about 10-15 minutes walk of the ground, 'The Bell', 'The Arrow' and 'The Airfield Tavern' (formerly 'Brewsters', which according to Stephen Pugsley also has a handy fish and chip shop next door called Palmers). Richard Reardon a visiting Carlisle fan adds; 'The Arrow is only 10-15 minutes walk away. The weather was excellent so most of our substantial following sat outside at a number of picnic tables. Not a wide choice of beers but one real ale available. Both sets of supporters mixed well, Sky TV for those that like that sort of thing. Police presence outside but it was all very friendly'. I have since received mixed reports about this pub so use your discretion. To find this pub, from the ground car park, walk back up the road past the ground to the top of it and turn right. At the end of this road, turn left onto the main road and after a short distance take the first right. Go straight down this road through the new looking residential area and after about ten minutes of walking, you will see a clearing on your right and just beyond this there are some shops and the Arrow pub in the middle.

Colin Jordan a visiting Exeter City fan adds; 'We found "The Bell" on Preston Road (towards the Town Centre from the A3088 roundabout, rather than turning left towards Huish Park). It's a very large Greene King "Hungry Horse" pub, with a great deal of outside seating, and as with most of Yeovil it seems to be away fan friendly. Usual Greene King beer fayre (IPA, Abbot, Morland OSH), plus good quality food. It is though at least a 15-20 minute walk away from the ground'.

I'll be there. Mate is moving to Yeovil at the beginning of August, so the wife and I are going to visit, then the ladies can stay at home and do girly things while I drag my (non city fan) mate to the match!

I'm hoping to get there (if I can get a ticket). Not very far for me to travel (from near Blandford) - a damn sight shorter journey than to the Ricoh!

Astute, i'll be there, as coincidently my mother-in -law moved there a couple of years ago, and as i've lived abroad we have hardly seen her for the last 9 years. The wife has already planned dropping me off for them to go shopping, so i'll pm you near the time so we can form the skyblue beer club,Yeovil branch.
If your 6ft 2 and big , don't expect me to last very long at high end beer drinking, as i would say i'm a moderate beer drinker at best, but i'll do mt best.

My guess is it will sell out !! I think we took 1800 to Saints under dire circumstances, with a bit of renewed optimism now, it will be rammed !!

Nice 1 Rev. Look forward to your PM. I am not a big drinker anymore. Prefer to stay at home with toddlers and let wife go out. She stayed at home with the kids that are now adults.

Got a feeling we could sell out for this game. Only 1,750 tickets available and lots of us suffering from withdrawl symptoms
