with us clearly looking at Jennings, and having just signed Barton, is there any room for McSheffrey if we play the diamond ?

-------------Murphy--------------
Clarke-----Malaga---Wood--Hussey
------------Jennings--------------
-----Baker---------Barton---------
--------------Fleck---------------
----------Ball------Cody----------

theres this thing called rotation

and considering mcsheffrey can play AMC or ST in the diamond im sure he will get plenty of gametime.

Baker can't play in the middle of a diamond to save his life..... Light weight

agreed, also Thomas to consider..

Just wondered if these two midfielders meant it might not be mcsheff or Thomas for captaincy ?

Yeah, we need all the players we can get to be honest if last year's anything to go by.

He'd be a good impact player off the bench and provide completion for places. Same for Baker perhaps.

ERM... Baker scored 13 in half a 4 months in league one from CAM, he got put out wide and wasted by Boothroyd!

With Sheffers wages, they'll find a place for him, don't you worry. Probably up front the way things are going.

I'd start with this if everyone was fit....

-----------------Murphy-----------------
Clarke----Malaga----Wood-----Kilbane
----------------Thomas-----------------
---------Baker---------Barton----------
------------------Fleck------------------
-------McDonald-----McSheffrey-------

.........and I have Fleck and McSheffrey interchangable during the game, would be difficult for defenders to pick up

Not quite right for me Kersley - I don't think Baker would pull his weight defensively in that role.

Extremely excited about Fleck and Barton though.

I'd also love to see Sheff's up front. His movement is top quality, he wins lots of pens and scores goals.

Yes - While Sheff may not be 'flavour of the month' on this forum he is certainly more productive than Baker - both in terms of goals and assist. Both are lightweight and add little defensively mind.

I like it, the only thing is the forward line's very small.

Hmm... Hussey LB, I think he will deal better with pace and I think, hope, he can do well at L1

I think if we sign Jennings, he should play DM but Kilbane if he doesn't with Thomas ahead of Baker.

Arwkard for McSheff, but I'd have Ball + Cody upfront and to be honest, he is going to start but I have no idea where McSheffrey will play.

Murphy

Hussey Cameron Wood Clarke

Kilbane

Barton Baker/Thomas

Fleck

McSheffery Ball

Subs: Dunn, Malaga, Christie, Baker/Thomas, Mcdonald

Thomas is a lightweight aswell as Baker the differnces between them are that Thomas is better passer where as Baker is more creative and can run with the ball and get past a man.

Agreed but I'd hope Jennings comes in as Kilbane lacks the engine for DMC and I'd have Cody ahead of Ball any day. I don't get the English obsession with target men: Spain don't play with one, and seeing as we intend to play like Spain, bring on the midget frontline! We'll pass our way through cumbersome defences with Fleck, Barton and Sheff creating chances galore. I hope.
