With all the weird posts recently, is this a match rating or a scale of inches?

Wouldn't be surprised to see Jamie Allen move on, maybe a loan or a free. (Once completely fit of course)

If we are committing to playing 2 up top which looks nailed on, there's only really an option for 1 attacking midfielder, and I can't see Allen getting ahead of Palmer, Ayari, O'hare (when fit) or Sakamoto, and with the possibility of another loan coming in as well, there's very little prospect of Allen getting much game time imo.

MR loves Jamie Allen. Really can't see him being let go on a free.

Is Ayari not the Hamer replacement?

No, he's just a loan. He adds cover and competition and hopefully some pace to our squad.

If we can't agree a transfer for a Hamer replacement then we will at least have him in the squad which is better than nothing and he sounds like he could be decent, and a season long loan means we could kick the can down the road for a bit if a Hamer type doesn't come in.

We're 3 games in, we haven't committed to playing 2 up top. Horses for courses or an injury to Godden and it'll be 2 behind 1, Allen signed a 2 year extension just 3 months ago, he is in the plans

Can’t remember the last proper deadline day we had where we were likely to bring someone in. Might even watch SSN for once.

SSN deadline day is not the same now they've gone all boring and banned fans / stopped presenting around fans.

I remember watching 'The Everton Dildo' live, it's one of those famous moments in eternity when people ask 'where were you?'

Still feel like we need 2-3 really solid signings, have a proper decent bench with options that’ll allow us to turn games around if we’re losing, have decent back-ups if we have longer term injuries, and even just options if we want a starting line-up that offers someone different from the standard week-to-week team so oppositions can’t predict exactly what we’re setting up like every week. We’ve got the cash to do it as well, even just two £5-7 million players with good potential is not too much to ask when you consider our squad depth is down on last year and we’ve had £35 mil to spend, plus whatever Doug wants to put in from his own pocket.

Looking to recruit and players returning from injury…

“We're still trying to do some things and hopefully we can have some more news before the window shuts and we just inch our way along.

“It's been a different window again, it has been a different time, but exciting, nonetheless. it was slow to start with, we worked all the way through the summer to try and get things over the line, but it just didn't work that way.

“The fact that that we've got the players in that we've got, I'm delighted with, and we just got to add one or two more in terms of number and then once we get Jamie Allen and Callum O'Hare back and potentially Fabio Tavares coming back the squad looks a lot healthier in number.”

The number of players we want decreases every time he’s asked.

Would be disappointed if it’s only one or two more in.

We don’t need much more, another midfielder and another striker/defender

we’ve still got o hare and Allen to come back

he always plays it coy, I think we’ll recruit 2 minimum, and spend big on the midfielder signing

Smaller squad than last season then and no significant replacement for Hamer. A little more depth in certain positions but it was clear that we had nothing on the bench to change the game on Saturday, some help to close the game out. We missed Palmer now that Gus has gone. I feel we're only a couple of injuries to key players away from being uncompetitive in the top half.

You can't go through a season playing 2 upfront and only have 3 strikers. Similarly, with 3 at the back and 4 CBs. That's 2 definite holes we need to fill plus a proper hamer replacement. I'd be disappointed if we don't get 3 in next week
