With what?
The players he scouted?
The players he scouted?
I think you'll find that a good number of them have departed this parish.
But why let the facts get in the way?
That'll explain why we can't score goals, or even have a modicum of attacking intent then, we don't actually put 11 players on the pitch.

King, Turner and Gunnar scored 21 goals between them last year.....so yes it might be.
We can't score as we have no creative midfield, nor pace to supply the balls the strikers need. Other clubs have. That's the difference.
We have signed less players than any other club in this division. What, in the name of Jesus, is so hard to figure about?

Being in the play-offs last season was brilliant, don't know how it slipped my mind, because with them still I'd be expecting us to do at least as well as we did last season with them.
Your argument, Sir, in inane. Look at this evening. Henderson was the real difference. A player we cannot afford. Thorn stated a few weeks ago that we cannot compete in the loan market with clubs with higher budgets. He was referring to Barnsley.
He cannot motivate players to compete regularly beyond their capabilities.
Clubs with bigger budgets, better players and greater squad depths are beating us week in, week out precisely because of those characteristics. To imply that Thorn should somehow be able to motivate the average to reverse all of these facts is simply childish
so lets keep plodding on slowly into oblivion. If the manager is so impotent in this situation and nobody could do better then why have one at all, save some more money
I'm sure that there are teams in the Championship with smaller budgets, and what would would be considered a worse squad than what we have.
Don't totally disregard that teams with bigger budgets and squads are beating us, but we may as well never bother with football at all and just put out our respective balance sheets at the start of the season and declare the league places there and then.
Newcastle might be a tad disappointed at that mind.
And if Thorn goes we'll get Oggy or Carsley. No manager in his right mind would destroy his reputation at a club with a squad of misfits and kids. We're stuck with the owners and players, like it or not. We could bring in a management team of Arsene, Jose, Sir Alex, Roberto, George and John but it'll still be the same weak squad.
Oh yeah and Ian..... Andy Thorn a rubbish footballer? Played in top flight for two clubs for several years and won an F.A. Cup medal. You admitted our squad wasn't good enough then said all we need to try is change the formation.... Erm.... Still same squad though....
Spare us and delete CWRs number from your phone.
Newcastle's position is a function of a friendly fixture list. See where they are at Christmas. Like it or not, a club's finances has the most profound effect upon the players they can attract, and the number they can sustain.
Allow me to turn this on it's head, I am telling you that we have signed fewer players than any other team, we have no loan players - unlike any other team in the league, our wage structure is the lowest in the league and we have sold or failed to retain our most high profile quartet of players from last season.
