Can someone please explain their appeal to me?

I have never ever seen anything they have ever done (apart from the dreadful attempt years ago at recreating the classic Likely Lads episode about the duo not knowing the England score), so I honestly have not idea why they are so popular.

Didn't they used to do X Factor or something? Maybe they still do. Never ever watched it or I'm a Celebrity, which I know they do, as I've seen trailers for the programme.

Just listening to 5Live and they are saying on there that they have won best entertainers for 13 years in a row at the National TV awards. i'm puzzled as to why they are so popular.

Anyone else never seen anything they have done?

I'm not having a go, just wondering why they are so popular.

I know they front Saturday tea time-ish shows on ITV don't they, and that is exactly the sort of low denominator brain fodder I really detest. Usually if it is a 'family' show it is rubbish.

To my mind I feel it must be dumbed down pap and that's fine if people like that sort of thing, but best entertainers 13 years in a row? Seriously? Is there no-one else out there at all?

I don't really know what they are classed as on TV either Otis. Presenters? Singers? Magicians? Comedians? er..... 'ang on. They can't do any of those anyway, so I ain't got a Scooby!

I'm with you Otis. I don't mind them, but what definition of 'Entertainers' are they using? What kind of programmes does that include?

In fairness they know how to work their target audience which is predominately morons so FairPlay to them. I mean it's not like they are presenting Newsnight or Question Time

I never know whether ajsccfc is taking the piss or not so I am just gonna assume he is........however, I like em.

They're TV presenters who have a good little niche and make a lot of money so fair fucks to em. Don't come across as if they've got their heads stuck up their arses either.

Plus they make me laugh on Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

100% sincere in this case. I don't necessarily like all of their shows, but they're always good on them. They make it seem effortless, which is a very hard thing to do.

I guess they are natural because they are best mates too aren't they. Used to be the same with Morecambe and Wise. They worked so well together because they had been together for 40 years or more.

I am sure Ant and Dec are appealing, this I don't doubt, but are they that good that they deserve to win best entertainers 13 times in a row, or is it just that the rest of the competition is pretty piss poor and they pretty much have no compeition at all?

They seem decent lads, I would find it funny if "off camera" they despised each other. I mean proper spit in your face hated each other

Bit of both I'd say. They've been up against awful shit like Chatty Man, Celebrity Juice, whatever Justin Lee Collins did (Springstalk?) and the like so they'd win most years almost by default. Looking back over the nominations there's only Jonathan Ross and Graham Norton also on there whose shows haven't made me want to claw my eyes out.

It's all public vote too, so them being the prominent prime time faces on the same channel that hypes the awards must bump up their odds a fair amount.
