Coventry council leader Ann Lucas has issued a fresh invitation for Ricoh Arena talks with Sisu boss Joy Seppala.

The latest plea follows an open letter in the Telegraph from Coun Lucas to Mrs Seppala in July when she offered to meet face-to-face with the head of London-based Coventry City owners Sisu.

The delay in arranging the meeting has been put down to Coventry City Council officials being unaware that the Sisu boss was in the country.

Coun Lucas wants to discuss the Ricoh Arena rent row which has seen the club leave its home city to play home matches 35 miles away in Northampton.

A Coventry City Council spokesman said: “Coun Ann Lucas, leader of Coventry City Council, remains determined to resolve the on-going issues over the Ricoh Arena and Coventry City FC.

“After hearing that Joy Seppala was back in the country earlier this week Coun Lucas wrote to her and again stressed her willingness to meet face to face as soon as possible.

“The letter included Coun Lucas’s contact details. This follows her earlier invitation in July.”

There have been claims that a meeting had been arranged since the letter appeared in the Telegraph on July 30 and that Coun Lucas failed to attend although a meeting attended by Ms Seppala and ACL board members was five days before the letter appeared.

A spokesman for Ms Seppala said: “As the letter from Councillor Lucas requested a private meeting “away from the glare of the media” she will honour that and respond accordingly rather than publicly. And, as ever, if the council has a constructive proposal to make it will receive full and careful consideration from the directors of the club.”

Since the open letter appeared in the Telegraph a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) which would have brought the club out of administration was rejected by Arena Coventry Ltd (ACL) – which operates the Ricoh Arena on behalf of Coventry City Council and the Alan Edward Higgs Charity.

That resulted in a ten point deduction for the Sky Blues from the Football League and followed a 10 point deduction last season after the club entered administration.

The club has relocated to Northampton Town’s Sixfields stadium on a ground-share basis with club owners suggesting the move will last for at least three years while a new stadium for the Sky Blues is built in the Coventry area.

Is she allowed to now? I thought she couldn't because of legal reasons?

Typical politician - its come to the notice of the public that she does not do what she says, panic again I want to meet Joy. She needs to explain why they did not sign the CVA - most probable reason to sabotaged this season for CCFC.

Why is Seppalla so secretive, why does she want almost everything undisclosed including her own appearance?! No wonder Joe Public becomes suspicious of such characters..........

take a few steps back 1st

1) Shitsu stopped playing the rent.

2) Shitsu placed the club in administration for a debt that they owed to themselves in the 1st place, not acl/ccc

3) Shitsu had the opportunity to drop the JR and accept a new 10year lease at the Ricoh at a much reduced rate in reply for accepting the cva. Shitsu chose not too. this would have saved them over £600,000.00 on the outstanding debt and possibly save as much as £1,000,000.00 a year over the existing offer depending on the success of the club. Seems odd that they didn't.

in summary there are 3 opportunities that shitsu could have taken to avoid the 10 point deduction and didn't so you tell me who sabotaged this season when CCC are 3-1 down on opportunities to have stopped this happening.

1) correct

2) yes, but ACL forced their hand as they were due to place the club in administration the following day. ACL applied for administration to prevent ccfc being liquidated, then chose to liquidate ltd by rejecting CVA

3) appleton has already said that including the new rent deal and the JR within the CVA was against the insolvency legal rules, yet ACL wouldn't remove them when given a week to do so. The JR has nothing to do with the CVA.

Oh then ACL make out that they rejected the CVA for the fans because they want an investigation......

Both parties are to blame in this.

The JR has nothing to do with the CVA. True, but no-one to my knowledge has said that that it wasn't legal to agree to this outside of the CVA agreement. if i'm correct that means shitsu could have still agreed to it outside of the CVA and the club would not be facing liquidation or have received the 10point deduction, shitsu and shitsu alone took the decision not to

Oh then ACL make out that they rejected the CVA for the fans because they want an investigation...... ACL are bullshitting on this of course but i think we deserve some answers from all parties involved and this is probably the only we will get the truth

Both parties are to blame in this. agreed, but one side has orchestrated the situation the other failed to take action sooner

We don't know whether the the rent deal has been offered outside the CVA, I suspect not as I'm sure ACL would have been shouting from the roof tips had it been.

I also think it goes back to whether the clubs wants to be a tenant and the lack of revenue that brings. Its like renting a house, its dead money so for me even though the rent drops it still isn't getting revenue back into the club so defeating the purpose and delaying the inevitable.

The fact is if xenophobes like you got rid of us "outsiders" the support would shrink by 40%.

Maybe you're right. I should let you Coventrians "deal with it". You're doing a grand job so far.

The club is a tenant in Northampton now though.

Just with much lower revenue than if they stayed at the Ricoh.

So if every season ticket holder and supporter who doesn't come from Cov stopped attending then you'd magically start playing at the Ricoh?
