Steven Pressley is set to sign former team-mate Andy Webster to beef up his fresh-faced back four.
The Coventry City manager has held talks with a couple of defenders with a view to rubber-stamping deals as soon as the club’s transfer embargo was lifted.
And the Telegraph can confirm that his principal target is Webster – currently a free agent but included in Gordon Strachan’s squad for next week’s Wembley international against England.
The 6ft 2ins, 31-year-old centre-back was set to extend his second stint with Hearts at the end of last season but that prospect was wrecked when the Tynecastle outfit went into administration.
Having played alongside him for club and country, Pressley knows his game inside out and we understand that Webster and his agent travelled to Ryton earlier this week for detailed discussions.
I take it I missed the confirmation we're out of embargo, or are these OK because they're free agents?
Good bit of experience brought in today, still worried about what Manset's arrival means for either Wilsons development or Clarkes future, but we'll see.
Is that our lot now we've got two then? Would still like to see another option at CB.
[h=3]Return to Hearts [edit source | editbeta][/h]After four-and-a-half injury-plagued years away, on the 3rd of February 2011 Webster returned to Hearts. He turned down a contract offer from city rivalsHibernian to sign a two-and-a-half year contract, tying him to the Tynecastle club until 2013. He described the club as "the club that gave me the base for a successful club and international career."[SUP][22][/SUP][SUP][23][/SUP] He made his debut on the 12 of February away from home against Hamilton. On only his third appearance for Hearts he was withdrawn after only thirty minutes with a groin injury. It was thought his torrid time with injury had followed him to Hearts however it was later discovered after a scan it was only a minor strain.[SUP][24][/SUP]

Apparently we can sign players on a one in, one out policy as long as the incoming players is on 75% max of the out going players wages. So Manset was able to sign as McDonald had left the club
I'm not sure if players released count towards this or maybe we have to wait till Edjenguele is moved on before Webster is bought in

I thought Cody went a while ago and Bells gone too (to be honest I've not kept up to date with who it released and who just isn't in the squad). So doesn't that mean we've got at least two places.
What about the bunch whose contracts ran up in the summer?

I'm not sure how it works as we are still under embargo so any signing will have to be with the football leagues say so. Waggot said we can work on a one in, one out policy with wages capped at 75% of te outgoing player.
No idea if players who were released count towards this and I'm not sure if it has to be like for like replacements
