Turner gets a lot of flack (maybe rightly so) but that is a fascinating watch.

He suggest Carsley the perfect fit and I would agree with that. King should offer him a long term deal, and carsley should take the step away from the FA and make his mark (no pun intended!) at a club he knows, x player and help shape the model King has installed. He is the obvious candidate. If he has ambition he should leave the comfort of the FA.

Agree with him and you on this.

Seems the obvious fit for what we want as a head coach who plays good football and develops young players.

Actually made me feel quite comfortable with LC. I don’t want a Billy big bollox using our club. He’s a good fit if we can prize him away from England. That appointment would feel More like the cupping of our bollox in a nice familiar hand who has our interests at heart.

I think Carsley has a lot going for him and is just tainted by being the recent England manager. All the names are a gamble in terms of record and I’d rather Carsley than Lampard. RvN has bigger star power but also not an amazing record.

Preference is still an unknown if the right one is out there.

I like the way he just stood/crouched in the technical area last night just coaching while the game was going on,reminds me of Bielsa!!
Joleon Lescott was there I think to last night I saw.

CT article on same thing (for those who can’t use FB links)

Lampard, Carsley and THAT Viveash interview - next manager questions answered

Coventry City news and views from CoventryLive as Sky Blues reporter Andy Turner lifts the lid on the circumstances of that interview with Adi Viveash and the consequences that would follow, plus the way forward for a proud football club
www.coventrytelegraph.net

Turner explains why in his view Lampard and RvN are non-starters (would only see us as a stepping stone at club level) whereas Carsley’s ambitions might be at national level eventually and skill set might be on sync w a head coach role at a club that wants to develop young players.

Also sets expectations for appointment (not in the coming weeks) and suggests Dean Austin will be made Sporting Director.

Carsley’s reputation is close to zero without his work with England.

Don't get the stepping stone logic at all. So what if they do see us as a stepping stone? They would have to get us in the top 6 and probably promoted to gain the interest of the types of jobs they presumably want to step to.

Yep I can see this point too. If they did well enough to be offered a “better” job - we would be in a pretty good place. Doug King might be off at the same point I suppose and never forget that Jimmy Hill took us to the promised land and promptly left for a job in tv.
I suspect Turner meant that their heart wouldn’t be in it and we’d be more like to go for a dedicated coach - probably from lower down the pyramid but Carsley might be the only “name” that fits the model.

If Andy Turner is right about King’s model, I suppose the question is do either of them want to come as work under a SD like Dean Austin?

Interesting to me is that he says Adi's interview was sanctioned by the club and that King may be confused when he said it wasn't.

So basically one of the first things out of Kings mouth at the fans forum was a lie, makes me wonder how much of it King exaggerated or told his version of the truth.

I see how you switched England manager for work with England there.

He’s a gamble, they’re all gambles. But people seem put off my him by his caretaker spell as Mens manager, whereas his record at the U21s was promising.

Lampard did OK then spectacularly bad, all while spending millions and by all accounts introducing a lad culture to Derby that doesn’t exactly fit CCFC.

RvD is a big name but rumours of being hard to work with and again not a stellar record.

The Wycombe bloke is the managerial EMC.

Schumacher is the final nail in the Becoming Stoke Saga.

No one has heard of Horneland.

Jimmy Hill is dead.

Nobodies perfect.

A promising record with England U21s has rarely (if ever) translated into subsequent success at club level. His predecessor was Aidy Boothroyd!

It's probably not logical but we've had 7 years of managerial stability, the thought of a revolving door after all this time needs a bit of taking in.

Better to be looking for a new man every season because he's been poached after being succesful than because he's been sacked after a relegation battle.

Indeed, Stuart Pearce, Peter Taylor and Boothroyd got over 2ppg with England U21.

Turner gave him the benefit of the doubt, as he wants to keep a good relationship with the club. More concerning, he hadn't spoken to Turner for two years from a transparent club according to King.

Tainted? He lost one game and in all the other matches we’ve won all the other games.

He tried some different tactics, got one game wrong and people had written him off. Personally, I believe he could do a good job for the first team.

I’m not a fan of Kings after the past fortnight but there is a difference between a lie and a misunderstanding. Even Turner described it as King not realising it was the same interview.

In my opinion, it wasn’t a lie as such, but it appears Doug was actually confused about the episodic format of the interview.

If Doug King came and bullshitted to a forum of fans and local journalists about everything surrounding and leading up to MR’s sacking, would that instil confidence and faith in a fan base that needed to be behind him and the club?
