But that deal isn't available now so there is no option but to look at alternatives.

But you are looking for deals to match SISU's pocket, which are not that deep that is the reality. But it will suit their agenda to make the right noises.

I am not excited by this yet.

I'd love to have a fast forward option on this saga and keep using it until this sorts itself out. Just want our own ground / or a better deal with the Ricoh - get promoted, then buy the Wasps out(and make the m play at The Butts as Coventry RFC B team).

I think the council have to be worried at the volatility of having Wasps as tenants of the city, they have moved their franchise once, chances are they will do it again before too long, if BPA is expanded they will then almost certainly have one empty 25,000+ stadium, which one it is depends on wether CCFC buy it from Wasps when they decide theyve had enough of Coventry.

Why? Do Wasps owe them any money?

Exactly. BPA short term emergency measure when the 2 years with Wasps are up, but no big investment. They may have a bit more capacity in 2 years, but never a new stadium. Keep looking for alternatives - your thinking on a Central Arena as part of the rejuvenation of the city centre would appeal to me. We no longer need so many retail units in town. The arcade, IceLand and that whole area should be ripped down and replaced with culture, sport and leisure. We have retail parks and Internet for shopping. Town should be for going out and/ or doing things - sport, theatre and other leisure activities. Watching CCFC as far as I'm concerned.

Not a risk in a financial sense, but if Wasps do up in and go in 10-15 years time and CCFC have built an alternative 25,000 stadium, there is going to be a huge empty stadium in the city doing nothing. Wouldn't look good on the council alloeing that to happen.

I suspect that will never happen, but an empty Ricoh would be an embarassment IF that ever happened.

It's Laughable that people { the same people} are giving this smoke screen any credence at all. Just go out and buy your season tickets quickly and I'd say very soon SISU will announce more court action against CCC and Wasps. This BPA bollocks is just a warning to Wasps not to kick us out as {'We could pull sticks again and piss off '} we have some other suckers ready to play our devious games with us.
1 SISU want somewhere to kick a ball around whilst litigation continues
2, CRFC are being drawn in by the promise of hitting the big time with increased revenue
3, CCC are being set up to be the bad guys by refusing permission somewhere down the line.
4 Wasps, actually are the only party trying to act with a level of professionalism [ And that being down to wanting CCFC fans footfall }

I don't think CCFC will revive till SISU are gone, why would anyone want to deal with them with the threat of constant litigation. They have dragged the club down.

Why? I'll just ask you as you know how it's going to work out, don't you?

CCC are the bad guys too. SISU don't wear black hats and CCC white. They're both bad guys, they have both fucked the club over, but you can't admit that, so you have to resort to some conspiratorial nonsense.

They don't contradict anything. I've always maintained that the council have had their fingers in the pie and their sale to Wasps was disgusting. I just happen to think that the tactics by the hedge fund have been equally if not more disgusting, especially dragging the club away to Northampton. I had 3 kids going to the City with me, it was a family occasion and they broke that cycle. No way would I travel to Sixfields and in the meantime my girls slipped away and started doing other stuff, also other friends who used to go, gave it up and haven't come back, I'll never forgive SISU for that !

Wasps will never be involved in direct litigation with Sisu. They would only be named as the beneficiary of what the council did when selling them the lease. That's for the future though as Sisu will be going all the way with the current JR, they wont lie down until its over. This is when I think the trouble starts, its when either Sisu goes JR2 about the wasps deal or gets out. That will mean either 5 more years of litigation or them extricating themselves in a way that makes business sense to them but not us.

I understand that, but just their name being dragged through the courts is going to piss them off I would think. You're right though whilst the club doesn't cost them any money to run they'll hang in and keep engaging lawyers to the bitter end. CCFC won't advance under that back drop either, it's a farce !

It is wish fulfilment I think. Sky blue tinted spectacle thinking.

It's all fine saying go to the Butts, but we need a stadium for our long term future and not just for 5-10 years. We need something to be our home for the next 50-100 years.

When we built the Ricoh the area was just wasteland and there was an enormous amount of space. With the Butts it is a really tight space and surrounding by new developments that will never get pulled down and access in and out would cause huge traffic problems.

Add to that the fact the Cov Rugby are very much talking down any concept of 25,000 and you can see the whole idea is awash with problems and the cost as a result, with all the limitations and ajustments and potential new road access is simply going to go up and up and up.

In an ideal world for me, Hearsall Common would be perfect. Stacks of space and lots of scope for new roads in and out. Again though, that is just fantasy talk because we all know the opposition would be huge and the land is common land.

I see that under Turner's article there is someone claiming that the best outcome would be for CCFC to be sold to the owners of Wasps. So, they want to sell to a hedge fund that actually moved a club 100 miles permanently. This logic is utterly insane and I am sure that there are more than a few who share this belief.

I think clearly if we are looking at the Butts site it shows that we are limited in options, clearly there is no other site that can be used to build a stadium? Its clear that CCC don't want us to get this deal ahead and will block this at every avenue. Maton's usual shit at the bottom of this statement just wind me up further. Deals can be done - sorry damage has already been done here.
Both options show lack of ambition for our club but with dwindling crowds, I think a workable Butts groundshare would be preferable. Talk of getting a regular 25-30k attendance in the premier league is bullshit, we have never had that and never will apart from the grade A games.

Thats the problem. People say it would be too small but if the Ricoh isn't a viable option for us long term then what's the solution?

Plenty of people have said they wouldn't step foot over the city boundary and CCC have stated there is nowhere within the boundary for a new stadium.

This is my point really, our options are limited. I think Wasps are happy for us to stay at the moment but the Butts option may not be around forever. If we cannot agree a future with Wasps (or choose not too) then we will be effectively homeless again.

The Ricoh is simply a no-go with the franchise wasps currently nesting there.
Lets push forward with the Butts redevelopment....15K capacity is good enough for the level we are currently at.
Get it built, hopefully CRFC & CCFC both thrive there & gain promotions & more fans....
...meanwhile, we can promote & continue a boycott of the wasps games & hope, along with their already stuttering attendances, that they fail, fold & fuck off....

......then CCFC buy the ricoh for a song....club & ground finally re-united.....& CRFC are left with a lovely 15k ground & rightly reinstated as the top rugby club in town.....

If it was an existing 15000 stadium it would be a good short term option. But as it stands it will take a lot of investment to build something that is too small for the football club and too big for CRFC. It is worth exploring but I think people are getting too carried away with its viability.

No, we wouldn't get 25,000 - 30,000 every week, but we would get that against Man U, Man City, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, Leicester. You only play 19 home games in the Premier League so there's a third of your home games right there and then we would also get big crowds if Villa came back up and Newcastle and then if Wolves and/or Birmingham came up too

Would be perfect. Exactly my thinking too, that we could make the Butts temporary and leave Cov Rugby with a lovely stadium while we get our filthy mitts back on the Ricoh.

We can dream anyway can't we.
