Today in one of the broadsheets I noticed this quote re the Macclesfield Palace match - maybe the ghost has finally gone ! With no mention of the team

“The result was statistically the biggest shock in Cup history. The previous biggest gap bridged by a team was 108 places.”

Sick to death of them constantly mentioning it at every FA cup game,

Hopefully this MAC win banishes it back a little

We are no longer the worst defeat in FA cup history! Sutton will die on the vine and commentators will be quoting Macclesfied v Palace absolutely brilliant!

You do know that we weren't the holders when Sutton beat us?

By adding 'apparently' it seemed like you were questioning if it was correct!

I added "apparently", because it was reported in the match..Yet you posted " nope". Enlighten me? You were wrong, weren't you? Which others?

Thankfully no one brings up our 1958 defeat to Aldershot, a humbling 4-1

This years most over quoted boring fact, footballs bursting in two successive FA Cup Finals due to the poor quality of post war leather.

I know I'm guilty too. But seems to have been quoted in every game I have watched live or listened to.

Not only that but what was also quoted was just 2 seasons after winning the FA cup. Palace are the FA cup holders

It was me that posted 'nope', and no, I'm not wrong - 1908 Wolves won the cup. In the first round (proper) for the following season's competition they were drawn against non league opposition - That game at Molyneux ended 2-2. The replay resulted in a 4-2 victory for their opponents who just happened to be a then non league side called Crystal Palace.

King's Lynn at home, and then they appointed Jimmy Hiil as manager and the rest is history.

Which is why I posted "apparently" it was a comment made during the Palace game .
