What it tends to do is build up fans' hopes, only to dash them again later. I don't think that's a particularly nice thing to do, personally.

On that basis, I think it's fair enough to challenge people who make public statements regarding this sort of thing. If you've got a serious offer to make to the club, then go and make it. If you got the kind of sums of money that we're likely to be talking about, then I'd honestly doubt you need anyone's help here. But if you do, then why not ask?

Otherwise, it's kind of hard to understand your motivation for posting about this - as it stands it looks a little like the Dhinsa, Byng thing again I'm afraid.

To paraphrase......

Dhinsa: I've spoken to the chairman's PA many times but I never have had a call from the chairman.

MMcG: I laid off my PA six months ago to save money, don't know who he was calling.
