I wonder what new excuses certain people will trot out, I thought that not having a fitness coach last season was to blame for those last minute goals and was nothing to do with 'Thorny'?
The fitness coach wasn't full time, that's the point.
I'm not making excuses for it Nick, but do you think Thorn and Harrison knew the slightest thing about proper conditioning coaching?
It started off as the excuse was no fitness coach, then it was that they were only part time.
Do they really do fitness / conditioning every day for the whole day?
They had a fitness coach, be it part time. I am pretty sure he had a phone if they needed to know anything when he wasn't there.
i am pretty sure pro footballers also know a bit about fitness and conditioning.

Given the stats posted previously about the age of much of our squad, it's either very naive or disingenuous in the extreme to insinuate the player himself should be able to raise his level of fitness to a level comparable with our peers with full-time professional expert
Didn't Thorn demand that every player was at their fittest last season though?
And scouting roleWell of course he did. But there's no way he can devise a programme and ensure it's executed to the letter. And that's not an expectation of many other managers either - again, stats have been offered on here previously with regards all other teams (bar 1 I recall) in the championship having a full time fitness coach. Almost every other chairman in the league saw the wisdom in it.
Or are you saying that you expected Thorn to come in as a rookie manager, survive on one of the lowest wage bills in the league, and do the role of a fitness coach and still keep us up?
I'm no way saying that a youth team player should be an expert. I would have thought each player would have been given fitness plans, targets and things to work towards / do which they could get on with and would have been brought up knowing what they should be doing.
Obviously if we had a full time one it would have been better, I bet Man Utd etc have a team of them in the background but I was just pointing out we did have one and it was better than nothing.
It may well have been lack of fitness that caused the late goals to come in, it also may have been dodgy tactical decisions or mental strength. Didn't Thorn demand that every player was at their fittest last season though?
