Imagine how much of a bellend you'd have to be to relentlessly slag him off for years.

Have you actually read the first post and the obvious title reference?

This is the point at which my dad would always say with a dead-straight face, "Yeah, but I was just winding you up".

I think most people see him for what he is. A player giving his all for the shirt playing at his ceiling. I wouldn’t have him starting 30 games a season but he has improved a lot since he first joined and he pops up with the occasional important contribution. Never going to win a game on his own but in a team that plays mostly with one striker he’s our only midfielder right now that busts his balls to get up with and often beyond Gyokeres, even though he knows he’s only going to get the pass on 10% of those occasions.

There’s always a player crowd have to knock Shipley, Waghorn last season, Biamou before him, Burge before him….wait a minute you were on their cases virtually every week.
[/QUOTE]

Not Waghorn TBF. But all of those were players we got shot of because they weren’t good enough

He's a limited player but does a job when he's on his game. some games he's completely out the game others he's doing an alright job. Rarely would I say he's MOTM and if we want to improve he'd be on my list. He has popped up in some good places to score this year which feels a new string to his bow so fair play.

Finally managed to watch the highlights from today, kept calm to score his goal but first touch was dire, that's the type of stuff that gets cleared out against better opponents in my opinion. That's why I see him as limited, he definitely won't be rocking in to the prem any time soon.

An, but if the first touch had been perfect, the defender would have anticipated that and got a tackle in. it was the mis-control that fooled him….

I think actually on here he’s been slagged off by a lot of people - no technique, shit, a dwarf, adds nothing to the team - even against West Brom when he created our best chances they aren’t anything to do with him

It’s been relentless. He doesn’t divide opinion it’s all pretty much one way

Jeez you have bashed him more than anyone his first few years with us.

Tbh though that isn’t hard, majority of our goals only come from Vik, we’d be fucked if he got injured

not exactly a gotcha moment given i admitted he’s been a revelation this season and I’d been one of his biggest critics - which oddly references the thread title?

Will you now hold your hands up and admit he’s vital to the team and one of the first names on the team sheet?

Going to watch Messi/Neymar/Mbappe today. I’ll drop in a note that they’re missing Allen from the line up.

Second highest scorer behind Gyo in a team that isn’t exactly prolific. Fair play

To be fair Robins really has no other choice than to play him because he does do a good job pressing, well good is a bit strong , his energy levels are to be admired, its just that he cannot tackle and our play consistently breaks down when he is involved although on some occasions he is actually involved in some nice one touch football. His first touch isn't very good , look at yesterdays goal although it probably worked in his favour and confused their defence but he was in the right place and scored so credit to him for that and he does chase back to try and help the defence out, I would think on the occasions he gets up and supports Vik on one of his runs, Vik looks up and sees liitle Jamie and thinks fuck it may as well go alone....although thats not confirmed.
He is a vital cog and Robins is not stupid and knows he needs someone better but at the minute Allen is all we have probably due to budget restraints because what little we have seen of Maguire so far it appears Robins is reluctant to use him ...btw what happened to Maquire yesterday? injured or dropped?

He’s played virtually every minute as an attacking player. Hamer and Palmer have better GPM.

In this division when was the last central midfielder to score double figures in. Season?

I assume Moussa was the last in any league but Allen could easily get 10 plus now

Really pleased he's added some goals to his game. He's getting in some smart positions for some easy goals. If he's popping the goals in that's enough to justify his place for me.
