Don't agree. My "point" is that this particular fixture will attract lots of interest in so called supporters that actually have zero interest in the club at all and will purely be intersted in a day out in London (though would have less intersted if it was Leyton Orient).

Worst game for me at the Ricoh was Chelsea at home. Showed to me why we are what we are.

Then again I'm a troll so there you go - still don't get that at all in truth.

Why would you hate that Chelsea game? Surely this is what we want every week? I really don't understand this point of view at all. Are you the kind of person who doesn't like bands when they become popular andrefer to them as sell outs but fail to understand the reason they are now popular is that the wider audience now appreciate them in the way you did when they were undiscovered? I guess you feel less exclusive and less important when this occurs? Are you shorter than 5'8"?

I'm not a season ticket holder, but have been in the past (having never lived in Coventry).. and I'm going to try my damn hardest to get a ticket for the Arsenal game.

Surely inspiring passion in supporters and potential supporters is what cup draws like this are all about, not arguing about who is a 'real' supporter and who isn't?!

I hated it because most never would come back again even if we had won. If you want the band analogy well I guess it's a bit like having to pay for the main attraction but really all you want is a glimpse at the supporting act.

I'm confused- There are loads of "fans" moaning about not enough peoploe turning up to watch games, and when they do they moan that they don't go to all the games!

Football is now a very expensive past time. Money is tight, people have real world IMPORTANT things like mprtgages and food and clothes! Its very difficult to justify £25 to watch crewe or bury or indeed any league one team. Its not so difficult justifying Arsenal!

Some people have more sense than money! Some people like to go for the occasional game. Yet that doesn't mean they don't follow the team! What about the military servinjg abroad? Are they not fans becasue they are fighting the Taliban?

It is really rather sad that "real fans" try to feel so superior! I'm sure these same fans would be happy watching every game with just the season ticket holders.

Like it or loathe it, to get anywhere, Cov have to attract the fair weather supporters more and more.

City cannot continue with just the 5,000 "true fans". They should be welcoming the extra fans with open arms, not trying to keep them away - Its these fans staying away that is part of the problem!

I tell you what, half of the best thing about getting these big draws are these arguements that are going to come up about 'real' fans against 'band wagon' fans.

for all the talk, if the football club give priority tickets to season ticket fans, it is absolutely the right thing to do. I dont even see how there is an arguement against that????!! I say this as a non season ticket holder as well, I do go to games home and away, but cant commit to going every week. I dont just go to the big games, I am going when I can fit it against what else I have going on - I can make it to Burton on Tuesday, so I am going. As well as games like Orient away, etc.....

so I guess my point is, im not a bandwagon fan, i go when i can, not based on who we are playing - but still even i feel season ticket holders should get a priority. Id love to go to the Arsenal game but if I cant cos all of our allocation has been taken up by season ticket holders, then fair enough! simple as that really, surely??

If I didn't have my work commitments I'd go week in week out like I used too. A new family doesn't help either therefore the reason I can't commit to a season ticket. However every game gets me going I can duly commit to the ahem. Bigger games....

Can't wait for carlisle away. And that arsenal one

PSGM1, the problem is these 'fans' won't go again this season. An extra 4000 on a jolly to Arsenal away isn't going to help the club.
Nothing against them going to it, they can do what they want, but that's why it sits uncomfortably with the people who watch the team suffer and sit in an empty ground time and time again.

I get the reason people don't go and I'm not judging them in any way. but surely you can see why it annoys people?

Using my mate as an example. The last 3 years:
"I'm not going to that shit"
"Ha Ha going Chelsea game!"
"Not going to that shit"
"Ha ha going to the Arsenal game"

Rinse and repeat.

I don't understand what most of the debate is about, but do understand why some people feel so strongly about someone who only goes once every few years when a big cup game comes up.

For years I followed us home and away. When I moved away from Cov this had to change. Then I started to work shifts. This has been the biggest obstacle to going to games. If I am not at work I will normally go to whatever game is on wherever it is.

This don't make me as deserving as a STH to get tickets for the most popular games. It don't make me a big supporter. I would like to get a ticket for the Arsenal game. Not only to see the game but I have never been to The Emirates before. If it was Highbury then it would just be a cup game. Lost count on Highbury visits.

If I can get a ticket I will be going. Don't see why I should be above others to get a ticket, but will try my best to get a ticket.

Ludicrous. The club needs revenue and the club needs support at home. It does not need supporters who decide to argue about one away game and it's allocation.

When at university with no money I slept on train stations and used mail vans to attend matches. I used virtually all my disposable income to attend matches.

We are debating one game. A game when everyone suddenly decides they are a fan and always have been.'

This is why we are not Norwich, we are not Southampton and you have the audacity to call me a troll.

Unbelievable.

But what if the club put in a good performance and 10% of those 4,000 fans decide to get season tickets. 400 extra seats for Oldham and Yeovil at home.

We all want more at the Ricoh week in week out, people can't therefore moan when fans take an interest in going. This is an opportunity to get that interest.

Likewise if Shaw or Wise or whatever starts a promotion push. That would be more significant but it all helps.

To be honest I live abroad. I would be tempted to fly back for this game for the sole reason that we will have a good turn out not because it's arsenal. I couldn't give two shits about them or the emirates
I flew back for the brum cup game a couple years ago with no ticket just because we had a big following

I have read a fair bit here and there since the Cup draw and there is a hint of truth in this matter. I am not particularly bothered what fans do anod dont do but as a season ticket holder nearlyh my whole life, there are MANY MANY fans who refuse to go to games week in week out, then come a game like this pretend they are fans and turn out.

It is completely different if you now reside away from Coventry but I am referring to the bunch of so called fans who only turn out fot the 'attractive games'.

its also funny how people find hard to make it up to the ricoh for a game can suddenly make it to buy tickets for a game in london, lol

Why is everybody assuming its going to be a load of glory hunters go..we get 10k plus at home ..up to 15k last season whose saying that these aren't the fans who will pick up the remaining tickets.this argument can and should only apply to a glamorous home tie

Big following? We will have 9,000 max at Arsenal. Go to the Ricoh on a saturday. You are sure to get a ticket and there will be at least 9,000 Cov fans there

That would be brilliant. That's what we all want. That's not what is going to happen though. Again using an example of someone I know, this is their facebook update:

"Ha ha let's see how shit cov really are!" They will be going.

Another one:

"Arsenal are playing Cov!! Can anyone get me a ticket!" This was accompanied by a text asking me to 'sort them out'

These are the pillocks I'm talking about.

People that haven't been to any games recently just won't be able to get a ticket unless they have a mate with a ST who doesn't want to go. If you are a season ticket holder you WILL get a ticket if you choose to go, there are more seats than season ticket holders as the club will most likely continue with the policy of 1 ticket per ST only. Even if every single ST is used during priority sales (unlikely) there will still be approx 3-4k tickets available to the next priority (membership holders and then people who have been to a game). This way fans who haven't been to any games for years will only get to go if somebody gives up a season ticket to them. Judging by this policy I would say 99% of fans who go do get to go to the Emirates will have some claim to being on the more 'hardcore' side of the fans and very few fairweather fans will actually get their hands on a ticket.

Stop f*cking moaning and enjoy a day out! Its supposed to be a glamorous cup tie and yet its all handbags on this forum.

I had a season ticket for about 18 years, then my son was born 2 years ago and I had to stop going due to the cost involved and needing the money to pay for things for him. I have managed to pick and choose matches over the past couple of seasons. I take it this is one game that I am not allowed to pick then due to other 'fans' opinions?

Surely there's no excuse not to buy a membership for £25?
This gives you priority after season ticket holders and before general sale.
We very rarely if ever sell out on season ticket holders alone, problem solved.

This is not about who deserves the tickets. There will be plenty of tickets for regular attendees. This new hypothetical and futile argument that you are now turning to suit a different point, was originially and ultimately about people being criticised for wanting to support their club. If they get a ticket good luck to them. ST holders always have had first refusal on tickets and I don't envisage that changing.

And all 6000 won't be buying tickets Rob so those that want to go will probably get the chance anyway.
