Exactly, what's the point of keeping players like that out of the team if the players that are in aren't performing. Not like there's a massive domestic schedule with high standard cricket so you could make an argument for keeping them at that level to develop. Get them in and playing.

Yeah, attack didnt look too frightening on paper and might prove to be the case. Also risky with Wood fragile and Robinson struggling for full fitness - both we’re unlikely to be fit for whole tour. I heard Mark Butcher speaking and agree with him that you’d maybe have rested Anderson and saved him for the summer anyway, but no reason not to take broad

I don’t think Root could manage Broad and Anderson they used to do what they wanted in the field and Broad was always using the drs

Woakes is utter tripe outside England. Opening the bowling what a laugh

Its a bit shambolic. One of the reasons given for not taking Anderson & Broad was that we needed younger players to get a go opening the bowling, so we open with Woakes. Robinson is half fit, Wood is fragile and they're saying Stokes can only bowl limited overs.

Crazy. Isn’t Woakes 33 as well . Very good in UK but has been found wanting abroad…bats better than bowls ! Might be better opening at this rate !

This is what frustrates me. I think his average in England is actually better than Anderson… outside of England he might aswell not bowl

What a shocker, Wood is injured and is very unlikely to bowl in the 2nd innings. So Robinson and / or Stokes will have to pick up extra overs and increase the chance of them getting injured.

They have taken two bowlers that are never going to be fit for the whole series in Wood and the unfit Robinson and are know flogging Stokes.

He's had months off with mental health issues and then admitted he'd rushed back for the Ashes but wasn't fully prepared. Surely if there's anyone to rest from this tour its him. Get him in training and in top form for the summer.

Stokes has just pulled up bowling his 40th over in a match he was only supposed to be a bits and pieces bowler in. England need 6 wickets in 7 overs, not sure its wise to be risking Stokes. Hopefully I'll be proven wrong.

Draw a decent result after start of day one but it's not a particularly strong opponent and pitch played it's part.

Root and management need to sort this shit out. Flogged Archer (a potential superstar) to injury, Wood is known to be fragile and now putting stokes through the mill. They’ve picked a squad that puts too much pressure on certain bowlers.

This goes back a while now.
We just can't manage bowlers. We've tried rotation, all sorts of personal fitness plans, workload management etc. but they still don't get it right. Just off the top of my head in recent years Wood, Stokes, Woakes, Archer , Curran , Mills, Broad, Ball have all missed significant playing time - sure there are more. Not like any of these were playing much domestic cricket either.
Australia had similar issues.

Part of it is these guys bowl for years and the ecb get hold of them and they remodel their action so they keep breaking down. Olly Stop is another and Olly Robinson will be the same.

Definitely, this winter has been a disaster for the women and when you hear them talk they don't even acknowledge there's an issue! Too many players in the team on name and not performance. Have a clear, get the younger players in and start building to something.

It looks a closed shop to me the opening bowlers are both overweight and create little, I am not a fan of the men’s hundred but it has helped the women’s game get more of a stage and how Lauren Bell isn’t getting in front of Shrubsole or Brunt I have no idea and other players in the hundred looked streets ahead of this lot.

Think they've done that thing where we started womens cricket ahead of a lot of other countries so had an advantage but we haven't moved forward and others are catching up. Looks like there's a Womens IPL on the way which will boost them massively.
