Hope so, looks a proper player down that right flank. Signing gives me Vitinho vibes when Burnley signed him.

He'd be wasted at Preston that's for sure.

One of my mates is a big Boro fan and he has seemingly heard that he has chosen to go there. I suppose we should hear more over the next few days.

Turner pushing the Alan Browne stories this morning and if he’s a good fit for us. Wonder if he’s got a sniff he’s coming to us?

shock @BlueSkiesForever doesn't like this. He prefers someone from abroad who might take 6 months to settle, utterly baffling

I just worry about our midfield if we get Browne, yes he’s an engine, yes he’s got stamina, yes he’s good defensively but where’s the creativity in midfield? Where’s our ability to transition from defence to attack?

We’ll have Eccles, Sheaf and Browne in midfield, none of whom are particularly known for looking up and popping in a defence-splitting through ball. I can assume it’ll be all pass, pass, pass, with little forward momentum, something which we do a lot of already. If Browne’s our only CM signing I really do worry about vision in our midfield.

But if we sign any foreign name that we know nothing about that would be fine right?

He's managed 9 G/A in 2 of the last 3 seasons from number 8. He's good going forward and carrying the ball. You are describing him like a waitrose Jamie Allen.

I just don’t want 3 midfielders who can’t switch from defence to attack, that’s all. Sheaf’s job is to mop up and stop the opposition, Eccles does a bit of everything (to some extent) and Browne is similar. I know you love singling me out for liking “exotic” players but it’s just that I don’t want a dull, beige midfield that never creates chances or scored goals.

we'll also have Rudoni, Saka will be back as well. Assists are not just a centre midfield thing

Nothing to do with being foreign or not, it’s just a lot of British suggestions haven’t excited me. I don’t want us to be stuck in another JDS/Lati/Kitching situation where we sign so called decent British players on 3 year contracts only to realise we’re stuck with them after a season of underperforming. Maybe Browne will be amazing but my personal opinion is I think we can do better, let’s look for another Stamenic rather than signing a rival team’s 29 year old.

Yeah that’s true but we shouldn’t just rely on 2 players to create all our chances. We should be a team that possess threats on multiple fronts not just from 2-3 players.

We will have

Torp
Palmer
Rudoni
EMC
Wright
Tats
Rodrigues

All playing off/alongside Simms.

I'd argue we don't really need someone that plays 'Hameresque' in front of the back 4 nowadays with that talent

Browne would be a very astute Signing on a free if it happens

Fair, and yeah maybe I’m just being a miserable bastard today but I really don’t rate Browne anywhere near as everyone else, I agree that we need someone that’s Hameresque but is Browne really that person? If you could see my facial expressions right now, a mix of sighing, confusion and despair

I feel like I’m the only one against Browne so maybe it’s me, fair, let us have him, he’ll be alright I suppose, let’s just hope we get some more exciting prospects in for the future of the club so we can sell on and make a shit load of cash

It really grates on me that you think his age is a problem. Some players we bring in for potential sell on value, others we will bring in to improve us here and now. I’ve seen Browne play with my own eyes and he’s the type of player we need. You watch a YouTube clip of a players highlights and get an erection

If we get Browne i don't really see us adding anything else to the middle of the pitch unless someone moves on. Could be interesting to see where that money we were willing to spend on Stamenic will end up going.

Yeah I'm not sure on Browne myself, but we can't just have a team of early 20-somethings!

29 is hardly decrepit even in football terms either(!)

It's strange how some people get annoyed at Palmer playing too risky forward passes as our number 10 and Eccles and Sheaf not taking too many risks as holding players. It's almost like they are playing according to manager's instructions.

I think he would be an absolutely fantastic signing and exactly what we need.

Whilst we are assembling a great football team we do seem to lack some bite and shithousery which Browne has in abundance. Not to mention his footballing ability is easily top end championship.

He's a CAPTAIN of another fellow team we struggle to beat. Getting a championship captain on a free, who is less than 30 is really good business.

Guarantee it would be the year to break the Preston curse and take 6 points from them.

Wise was a good signing for the brief time we had him on the books.

He had the ref in his pocket within minutes and was influential in most good things on the pitch at the time.

Proper silly if you don’t think this would be a smart signing on a free.

Not all signings have to be 22 from abroad with a potential to be sold for more. Bizarre that if it was a name we hadn’t heard before, everybody would be all over it.

I reckon people have been spoilt with the Saka,Haji & MVE signings from abroad we made last season & want another dose of it this pre-season

Well he does it now and again, but it’s regularly that’s the key. I’m sure I could find an example of my dog creating a nice through ball if I scrolled back through my photos far back enough
