So not after the rent boycott had started then, when a new ground was suggested with any seriousness?

What are you talking about? I am not interested in whether SISU has submitted plans for a new ground. The subject is the land around the Ricoh and its prospective use. What has it got to do with plans submitted for a hotel by a 3rd party?

Well he's talking about his favourite topic. Funny as the usual comments on here is I never post about football related matters (which I do) yet other posters never have that thrown at then despite a very limited agenda of opinions and issues.

The reason councils don't put CT up is because they get penalised by Central Government if they do.

Plenty of times they haven't put up council tax, which with inflation factored in is a reduction.

That's a rather cynical view of the world. A bit like saying the reason most people don't brake the law is purely on the basis they will be punished.

Perhaps they try and keep it low in order to give value for money?

There are incentives for LG when they keep any CT rises below 2%. That's fact not cynicism.

I was talking about the fact that plans have never been submitted as far as I know for our new stadium, and you said

No - I remember seeing some in 2005/06 - they'd have lapsed about 4 years ago

By which I assumed you were referring to the new stadium, it appears you weren't and do accept my apologies for the misunderstanding.

For the record, I don't comment on players performances at football games I haven't seen as it would be unfair. This is because I can't judge for myself whether they were stunningly good or should have been substituted as soon as possible. The BBC live text/5Live are excellent in letting you know what's going on (and normally all I have to listen to/watch) but they're not very good at showing individual performances and are certainly no substitute for watching the game. The SBT match thread is also excellent and often ahead of everyone else.

I think you might be confusing them with a company with some money - SISU could barely afford to own a daisy chain.

It's a shame that the council see an empty football stadium and some brown field land as more of an asset than its historic old football club.

I've had a bad day, I'll bite.

The council are not the ones who emptied the stadium, nor are they the ones refusing to fill it. That is a certain Ms Seppala, it would be best for everyone involved if she just moved the club back on a rental deal, and she'd probably have great fan support for low rent and high income stream access. But she doesn't give two shits about that, she wants the development land. Useless to the club, but handy when you've spunked £40m on a football club and can't accept that you make bad investments.

Can't post the image here, go to the website to see it, but it shows the Ricoh as three separate segments: The Ricoh, The development land between the Ricoh and Tesco, and Car Park C.

Seems the claim is being laid down, if indirectly, that if someone wants all of the development land they'll have to pay market prices for it.

Could be nothing, or could be signs of a speed bump in negotiations that this info is put out now. What say you?
Edit: *Around, damn you lack of title editing.

What say I is I actively don't want the club to be distracted from its essence of being a football club so yes, by all means let somebody else develop the land if they want to. If it's such a good deal there'll be floods of takers after all.

Oh yes indeed... and a great political rant could be had about that, along with 'consultation' questionnaires designed to give the answers they want.

But, well, that's for another board probably!

But Joy said she will only return if she is given the opportunity to develop the land. So what outcome would you like to see to that?

What I'd like is the football club to focus on being a football club...

Probably a gong in the New Years Honours list, and a couple of garden parties to take the "little woman" to.

All for "Services to Local People" no doubt.

Although a lot of the stuff that came out from the council was quasi emotive crap like "Mayfair based hedge fund" - the thing is that a lot of developments are backed by hedge funds these days, that's just the way of the world.

The whole situation has been about the various parties protecting their own interests under the guise of protecting the club.

I don't disagree with you, the problem is that CCFC is not really CCC/ACL's problem, it is Sisu's. They are the ones who have fucked us down to Northampton, they are the ones that continually lie to us and they are the ones responsible for getting us back home. All the other bullshit about land for development, freehold, ownership or Joy's cock is bigger than Nikki Sinclaire's is somewhat irrelevant to me when all I want to do is watch us play good football at home. If Sisu are to own the land around the ground aswell as the stadium then so be it. Pay what it is worth in today's climate and show willing and get the deal done. I couldn't care less what is around the ground to be honest but would prefer something rather than nothing because I used to love that walk upto Highfield Road with all the units and houses around it.

The land by tesco is identified by the council for uses including the station, retail, office and hotel. Tesco has permission for additional retail units and is currently agreeing details with the council regarding these. I'm pretty sure it's on this undeveloped land.
