As we love a good debate on here I don't know If it's presumptious to start a thread, maybe sticky, depending what others think so as not to derail /distract others threads from their core points.
Anyhow for starters heres two.
Could /Should there be a Class action and a Judicial review in relation to the Windrush debacle as I seriously doubt even now the cause and effect or redress is being taken seriously?
Secondly what is happening in this world where mobs are attempting to overrun a Hospital at the centre of a legal battle?

I'd not pretend to know what such things are like, and hope I never have to (your posts on the subject and a couple of the others on this board make me grateful I haven't!) but it always seems slightly... selfish to keep people alive beyond their time. It's not like doctors just decide something on a whim and yes, they can be wrong, but I don't see what's to be gained apart from prolonging the heartache, costing the NHS a bagful of money it doesn't have, and stopping people from grieving properly.

But... I can understand why if he's yours, reason might go out the window.

The Windrush business is piss poor. I suspect though we will be apologising for the next 1000 years, as we do like a bit of self flaggellation .

I'm appalled with the Alder Hey business. The worst excesses of social media mixed with Liverpool victim mentality. Sick of uneducated non medically trained imbeciles making ignorant comments. The fact that people genuinely believe there are staff in the hospital gaining some kind of pleasure from it is ludicrous. Problem is we are producing generations of adults who haven't intellectually moved from being children and will believe any old shit.

My agenda is the increasing number of adults who are unable to dress themselves and appear to wear what can only be described as Reebock romper suits. Pull up jogging bottoms no need to worry about tricky zips or buttons and a pull over hoody. Generally helpful to have arse hanging out too

Agree here Macca in you overall view apart from the flaggelation .
If it is dealt with exhuastively here and now, rather than piecemeal in a trickle, we don't have to.
There appear to have been appalling snubs as recent as last Sunday to the severity /seriousness of acknowledging /addressing the problem .
It involves a resignation from the instigator and a full published Compensation package.
There has been the exposure of a very cold heart in the centre of Govt as evidenced after Grenfell.
For me it isn't about what's expedient for individuals but all about honour.

Anyone from the Windrush generation claiming legal British residency should be allowed to stay until the government can prove they are not here legally by producing every one of the destroyed cards and not finding their name on any of them. If you destroy legal documents, the burden of proof should shift to whoever destroyed them.

1. Yes, it is absolutely shameful what has happened to the Windrush 'generation'. This is all down to parties chasing narrow objectives set by the tabloid media and making silly promises.

2. I think it's a sign of years of dumbing down and a general lack of responsibility or consideration for others.The rentamob at Alder Hey seem to generally have the occupation of 'Full time Mummy', they read titbits of information shared on Facebook and think they're an expert. They're backed up by millions of other idiots who share those 'Share if you agree' memes.

1. Scandalous, but not surprising from the current government. People who were invited here under the status of Commonwealth citizens now having to prove that is the case after 40 or 50 years. Compounded by lies aimed at deflecting responsibility from May from her odious sidekick Nick Timothy.
I expect the government to put as much effort into making this right as they have with Grenfell.

2. I am a great supporter of the right to protest but there's a time and a place. I know from my sister who works with very poorly children in Birmingham how stressful it can be for parents and staff so to have these brain donors making life even more difficult is despicable. I feel sorry for the parents but this isn't the way to go about things and those involved should be ashamed.

At yesterday’s High Court hearing, Mr Justice Hayden criticised what he called the “malign hand” of one of the family's advisers, law student Pavel Stroilov.

The court heard Mr Stroilov been party to Mr Evans lodging a private prosecution of Alder Hey Hospital doctors, allegedly for murder.

Mr Stroilov works for the CLC, part of a campaign group called Christian Concern, which is known for its opposition to abortion, homosexuality and gender identity issues.

Mr Stroilov, who is not a practicising lawyer but has been advising Mr Evans, was yesterday accused of giving him “false hope”.

Wouldn't be surprised it they'd also had donations from the type of organisations whom want to harm the NHS.

The other thing to say is, from what I've read by many of the rentamob on the pro Alfie Evans campaign don't even realise what they're campaigning for. They seem to think this hospital in Italy is offering to save him, rather than just a different type of palliative care.

I can't go on social media at work to link them but I follow a couple of accounts on Twitter, one is the secret barrister and the other is Jorge Pimenta who's a doctor in London, (can't remember which hospital).

Both have posted quite long threads on the subject and basically destroyed all the legal and medical arguments that the family and supporters are making. It's sad that they've had to do that and I feel for the parents but it's a very unhealthy situation.

I don't know enough about the Windrush saga... .but first thoughts are this has been going on for decades and with different governments....so why now all of a sudden . ....more bullshit politics and oh yes lawyers poised to make a killing again.. cunts ! I agree with most others on that baby saga, tragic for the kid but c'mon, more people thinking the world
owes them everything......there will be a book out soon, newspaper articles, TV appearances, money, money, money !!

your first thoughts are wrong, it hasn't been going on with successive governments.
The border agency asked Labour for permission to destroy the Windrush boarding cards in 2009, Labour agreed but it was nothing more than a housekeeping exercise.
They were actually destroyed in 2010 under the tory government. But it was only after mays "hostile environment" speech that it became an issue when immigration authorities started trying to deport people from the Caribbean that's it's become a major issue, I'd call it a scandal.

You're right that it's going to cost because there's going to be some amount of compensation to be paid out and rightly so.
If i'd been invited to the UK as a Commonwealth citizen and then wrongly deported 45 years later I expect it.

he's supposed to have used the phrase referring to foreign criminals. I don't know if that's true or just part of the attempted tory smear and deflection campaign. They get caught lying that regularly now it's hard to keep up.

It was May who set the current process in motion with her 2012 hostile environment speech when Home Secretary.

It's emerging now that apparently immigration officials were instructed to target "low hanging fruit". In other words easy targets such as the West Indian community, I don't know if that's true or not.

Isn't it people who were invited over years ago from the Caribbean? Now it's people who are 60 odd who came over when they were about 6 who are being told they are illegal immigrants?

they were told they had to prove they were here legally, (one of the main documents needed was the landing cards which had been destroyed by border control). People who were here by right have lost homes, jobs and been denied medical care.
They were invited here to rebuild the country from the Caribbean and were only in the Caribbean in the first place because we took their ancestors there from Africa as slaves.
You still get fucking idiots trying to defend it or make excuses. We're turning into a very insular, nasty little country.

That's what I mean, it isn't as if they have just crept in on the back of a lorry. Their parents were invited to come and live here.

There are plenty more who should be deported, it seems like they are an easier target.
