The actor Bill Roache has said that he has "thought" himself young.
He is aged 85 and in the paper today he states that he is actually getting younger. He believes in the power of the mind etc and says anybody can live a long life if they think properly. Got to admit he does look well for his age, and he must be doing something right.
Which leaves me to ask do you believe in what he says, or is it just pure chance/luck ?

There is no doubt positive thinking can have a positive affect. You watch these survival shows and they say that staying positive is the most important thing.

But I don't think you can will yourself to 85! Good diet, exercise, good genes and good health care all play a part.
And you'll always get some anomaly who lives like George Best but still makes it to 90!

Good points there. I know people who abuse their bodies and drink and smoke heavy, but are still around. Then I know others who have looked after themselves and popped off fairly young. Yet I do believe the mind or brain is powerful and is capable of unbelievable things.
I find it all interesting though !

I find it interesting as well, the human body is a fascinating bit of kit especially the brain.
And how we're forever discovering new things about the body and how it works, often at the expense of something that had been perceived as irrefutable and set in stone for decades.

He is doing well as he has had an easy job for 60 years with a steady income, it’s not breaking rocks is it.

I've been reading about how the brain is not the mind, they are different.
I never knew that till recently I thought both were the same. In fact experts say where the mind is located is a mystery. Whatever it is it is powerful without doubt.
Back to the age thing one of my customers passed away two years back aged 101 and still lived in her own home right up to her death. I asked her what was the secret to a long life? She replied she had no idea.
Which sums it all up really !

The world's oldest woman several years back who was French, died aged I think it was 109 was asked what she did to get to that age ? It was revealed she drank wine every day, stopped smoking in her nineties, and ate anything she fancied, and hated exercise. WTF !

I am a strong believer in "age is all in the mind" however, whilst throwing myself, wholeheartedly, onto the dance floor and thrashing about like an angry cat trying to escape a knitted jumper to "hear the drummer get wicked" at an 18th party last weekend, my right hip would disagree.
